Isn't it Ironic (Saddam)

The Iraqi government indicted Saddam today, among the charges were the war he started with Iran, hmm thats funny, I thought the US funded that war. Its also ironic that they didnt file any charges for having weapons of mass destruction.

BishopMVP 06-30-2004 08:15 PM

We didn't fund that war at all. We got in partway through to help Iraq a little with Satellite photos so he would bleed Iran more (and also gave Iran a little help when they started losing to bleed Saddam a little) but it was mostly Soviet weaponry, with Germany, France and Britain all selling more to Saddam than we did. Even that wouldn't qualify as funding a war, since it was selling weapons to Saddam, not giving them to him.

I think it's ironic that Britain is helping us in the Iraq war, when a mere 250 years ago we were fighting THEM. Now THAT's irony!

sachmo71 06-30-2004 08:37 PM

And the Iraqis fought Britain in the 1920s, too. Now they're fighting again. Ironic.

I was scratching myself once when I noticed a large puss filled sore. Then I remember that damn chimp who dressed as Hitler and did erotic strip teases to the sounds of mating humpback whales. That my friend is irony.

I don't remember that scene from Star Trek IV. Must be in the Director's Cut.

Good News: Saddam could face the death penalty.

Bad News: David Beckham will probably take it

After looking at them, it appears that they only filed charges for using chemical weapons (Halabja 1988) rather than having them. So I guess you're technically correct.

Desnudo 07-01-2004 03:36 PM

These charges are like rain on your wedding day.

nfg22 07-01-2004 03:44 PM

Whats Ironic is after 4 years of supporting an invasion of Iraq(even under soverngty violation) Kerry suddenly doesnt anymore...?!?!?

judicial clerk 07-01-2004 04:28 PM

These charges are like a free ride when you've already paid.

SFL Cat 07-01-2004 05:08 PM

What's really ironic is that Saddam's defense team are French lawyers.

Karlifornia 07-01-2004 06:09 PM

I suppose it is Verges. He was also the lawyer of Klaus Barbie (a SS Nazi from WW2).

Well, France & Germany have had 3 Wars against each other in the last century and are now as friends as it is possible to be.
