Ping: Chicagoans

Does anyone know if the Cubs release standing room only tickets on the days of games?

We're going to be in Chicago for the long weekend visiting family, and the Cubs-White Sox game has been long sold out. Trying to weasel a way into the Saturday game for my father-in-law and me. Tickets on E-bay seem to be going for 75-100 a pop, and we don't want to pay that. Anyone have any ideas on what the market will be around Wrigley just prior to the game?

Also, is the Taste of Chicago worth checking out?

Best fireworks for the weekend?

I would add that it's supposed to rain all weekend. Sometimes, you can get affordable scalped tickets if it is raining around the time the start time. I've been to the Taste when it was raining. Worth the trip. I went once when it just finished raining, and it was humid and crowded. Not a good combo. Either way, two words: Public Transportantion.

Otherwise, the Chicago fireworks are money, but again, the expected thunderstorms on Sunday might make this the worst idea of the bunch.

Fireworks are Saturday night, not Sunday (if they're doing what they usually do and having them on the 3rd). It'll be ridiculously crowded at Taste then, though. Try to go to Taste in the morning if you can and come back downtown at night to catch the fireworks somewhere north of taste but south of Navy Pier. You'll still have a good view but avoid being trampled.
