FOF: Formation Use Vs QB Formations Known
Was hoping to get a consensus or feel on what formations you use vs what your QB knows.
Do you only go with formations your QB knows? Does it matter? (I assume it does). What about the rushing game, how does it affect a running formation if your QB doesn't know the formation? (I assume it doesn't since he isn't involved as much but i'm not sure.) |
This is from the help file: ""During games, if your quarterback is not capable of running a formation, the percentage you entered for that formation will be ignored during play selection."

I have found the offense runs much better when using an offense built around formations the QB knows. Otherwise you might wind up with a bunch of formations assigned that he doesn't know, and only a few assigned he does. What results is a predictable offense that only runs those few formations the QB does know. My advice is to program the offense around the QB. I even go so far as to built a different profile for each QB on the roster. So if the starter goes down, I have an offense ready to put in for the backup.

I only use known formations in my gameplan. This takes some thinking ahead if you have an injury prone starter and/or don't want to have to completely overhaul the offense when the 2nd QB has to play.
