R.I.P. OldGiants and Maulers...
He seems to have fired all his players last week.
OG, are you out there? What's the story? |
Sigh.
|
I had seen that, don't know why or what happened.
OG, you out there? :( FM |
He fired all his players immediately after his last cup match, after he got abused by the match engine. Could be coincidence, but I think he was really pissed.

I had to talk the wife out of quiting Sunday as well. Check out her match:
Match ID: 22548980 2 straight league matches like this for her. |
I don't know, maybe it's just me, but both of those games involving The Herd's wife seemed like coin flip games to me, and Maulers was out NSI'ed by 11 (78-67 with the old ratings) and didn't have possession. None of those were WTF games in my estimation.
Granted, I have lost worse games than those and wanted to quit frequently, but I think when you've played enough close games you grow used to getting screwed by the engine. |

Calibiri first half of the cup game:
In the 4:th minute cheers broke out as Hoss Compton found his way through the guests central defense line, clipping the 1 - 0 goal in for Flyers. In the 37:th minute of the match the visitors central line of defence had to look on as Severo Rueda dashed through, knocking home 2 - 0 for Flyers. Dave Napier made a nice rush in the 37 minute, but was eventually stopped by Gabriel Fãtu. Rodrigo Caño had a lethal looking free kick grazing the post in the 38:th minute. Nicolás Sanfuentes has the wonderful ability to create chances out of thin air. In the44:th minute he drove a bicycle kick straight past the keeper, resulting in the 3 - 0 goal. In the 45:th minute Flyers´s Hoss Compton tried to nail the coffin shut, but the shot rebounded off the bar to fall behind the net. Flyers put themselves up 4 - 0 when Nicolás Sanfuentes broke through on the right, leaving the entire defensive box behind him. The structure of the game started to change as Flyers decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone. The teams went for a half-time break at 4 - 0. Calibiri, bringing the final ball possession rate to 54 percent, dominated the battle. 54 percent of the possession. And I'm getting spanked. Yeehaw!!! Such is the Hattie life. Sometimes the virtual dice falls your way and sometimes it don't. It's just part of the game. |
Well, I got burned tonight. Missed 3 scoring opportunities against a poorer defense than two teams I scored 5 on in each of the last 2 weeks. He had a middie red carded in the 68th minute, scored a counterattack goal despite not using that as his strategy and won 2-1 on the road. Yep. Shit happens.

The wife wasn't pissed so much that she lost the match. It was the fact that she didn't get an actual attack opportunity in it while her opponent got 4, plus the header special event, plus a free kick chance. Her only attack was produced from the counter attack all, and she missed that. |
For the second half . . .
In the games 56:th minute Calibiri replied, reducing the lead to 4 - 1. Elliott Hammond scored on a marvellous cross pass coming in from the left. Andy Coupe increased Flyerss lead to 5 - 1 by putting a header away on a hooked ball from the right. Several players now looked tired, especially Gabriel Fãtu who quite horribly caused the 6 - 1 goal as he lost the ball to Fred Hartshorne of Flyers, who seemed to have some energy left. Mark Domb should probably have put his team up another goal in the 84:th minute, but some great goaltending by Martin van der Lee kept the visitors in the game. The referee showed Calibiris Elliott Hammond the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Calibiri, bringing the final ball possession rate to 54 percent, dominated the battle. So we ended up with 1 single attack in spite of 54% possession (match ID: 23044395). It's just like anything else, you do your best to put together the best chance and hope the odds carry you through. |

Yep. I had better stats everywhere and lost 3-1 with two visible chances including the goal. I've also gotten extremely lucky before the other way. |

Agreed about luck going both ways. I was very pissed after losing last week, but then you have to remember that you win some and you lose some. Just like it has happened twice in league play this season, won one match, tied another, both where I was beaten in the ratings game... FM |
It's tough to take it lying down when a bad week sees you lose between 30 and 40 supporters. I'm sure it'll go my way sometime in the future, so I stick with it.

OTOH, on Sunday I had 70%+ possession, better ratings in all 7 areas, sometimes substantially better, out HSI'd my opponent 199-135, and lost 3-2. I blame the socks. edit: really bad grammar |

You can "deserve" to win and still lose. I don't call that "abused".
Word quibble aside, if he quits playing Hattrick, I'll miss OldGiants. He's one of the best game analyzer I've never seen. He can break down the mechanics of and understand games faster than most I've known. |
True, that... and I'll also miss him as a very funny and creative and friendly fellow.
But I still don't understand why any HT'er would quit over one match - this game is just such a stunningly long-term proposition... |

And I agree with that. Remember folks, HT is a marathon, not a 100m sprint... FM |
Bah...I'm ready to sell all my middies and buy 1 star guys to replace them.....Then buy a super D and forwards and play counter attack for the rest of the season.

If you dig losing thats a solid plan. |

Nah, sell your middies and try finding players all named Poutine, that should help you :) FM |

?? |
That's my way of saying you shouldn't rely on CA to win you many games.
