Anyone geeked for the Olympics?
I guess they start in 11 days. The only reason I know is because someone asked me and I had to look it up.
Here's a schedule/list of events. There's nothing here of particular appeal to me. If something major happens, I'm sure I'll catch the highlights somewhere. I know I'm in the minority but I just don't find the olympics, particularly the summer olympics, interesting. http://www.cbc.ca/olympics/schedules/ |
Should bee cool to watch, but I'd rather it be the WC myself...
|
I kind of am, but only for a few events (boxing and track &field events, mainly). Also, for some reason, and not because I'm a perv (I am, but that's not the reason), women's gymnastics. :)
|
I like the swimming events.
Men in briefs, whats not to like? |
After checking the broadcast schedule, I am actually excited now (good to see the use of several channels to show the Olympics). 3 Hours of Olympic boxing every night (MSNBC and CNBC)! SWEET!!
|
Unless something earthshattering/memorable happens with the American's, I don't see myself tuning in at all unless for the occasional update.
|
Nope not really. To me the Olympics always seem to be five fluff peices then one event.. more boring stuff.. then another event. ::yawn::

Yeah, CBS (I think they did it last time) really did a horrible job broadcasting the Olympics. I hope NBC does it right (in that I want to see boxing, not the life story behind each boxer). |
For some reason, I find the summer games not as exciting as the winter ones.
|
My wife and i heart the olympics....it's really the only sporting event she will sit down and watch with me,We will generally stay up untill all hours of the night to watch the events live.
|
Not here.
|
Not excited yet, but I'll probably get excited once I start seeing the actuall competitions...
|
No excitement at all.
I can't get excited about watching people run or throw a big heavy ball or any crap like that. Most of the events have no appeal to me. |
Yeah I'm "geeked".
|
Im a geek :D
|
I'm excited about the olympics. I will watch almost any sport when it 'matters', and for most sports, this is the most important competition any of them will ever be in.
Besides, the Olympics will mean there is something worth watching on tv. With The Ken Jennings Show on hiatus, there is not even half an hour a day of such programming. It will also be in HD, and it is extremely rare for me to find something compelling to watch in HD. |
You guys should try being from a country that doesn't win a ton of medals... makes it much more exciting when you finally do win one :)
Very excited about the Olympics this time round even though the GB squad is the weakest it has been in a long time. As it's in Greece the time difference is only an hour so will probably watch it religiously. |
you will get drawn in.
|
The 100 meter dash is probably one of the most breathtaking events to watch.

yes but does it get you geeked? |

Nope. Not only would I rather watch baseball, but I just found out last night that the NFL Network will be showing taped AND live preseason games nearly every day. Giddy-up! |
I actually will watch the Olympics. Gimme the games that count. And when if you screw things up, you won't get another shot for FOUR years.. that's making it count.

Yah, that's why I'd rather watch swimming or table tennis that matters to the athletes playing it rather than preseason football or baseball. |
I love playing table tennis but it is one awful tv event.
|
all the track events, the swimming, boxing, and olympic hockey sound good to me

Funny enough, I actually watched a match the other night on ESPN2 between a couple of former Olympic champs. I used to be really good at table tennis, back in college when I had nothing better to do. |
