Question re: interesting situation in my FOF league

I'm hoping someone can give me some insight as to how to get around an interesting issue that's come up in my FOF league.

When we formed the league, we did a complete league redraft. However, the GM at that time got teams confused, and one teams roster (Houston) ended up being added onto a different team (Tampa Bay) and vice versa. The way the GM fixed it at that time was to simply do a mass trade of all players on both teams.

However, now that we've reached offseason, what wasn't taken into account is how the guaranteed money in the original player contracts affected that. Because both teams were traded en masse, both teams now have an OBSCENE amount of "dead cap" that has both teams over the cap and is more or less unresolvable short of dumping every player worth something on each team. From what I understand, if a team's over the cap come draft, they lose their 1st and 3rd round picks.

Has this happened to anyone before, and is there any way to work around the cap? We have a possible fudge fix for the lost draft picks, but will the game let teams compete over the cap? Is there ANY fix for this that anyone has figured out?

Help, please. Thanks!

Teams can compete when over the cap, they just keep losing draft picks and can't sign anyone except the 1-year undrafted FA guys that are playing for the league minimum.

Hope those two like rebuilding projects...

Im 99% pretty sure you cant do anything about it. It would have been better just rename/relocate those teams.

On the bright side, they'll both be in excellent cap shape next year.

Wow. Time to contract.
