LOL! Hambrick and Emmitt Reunited!

Hambrick traded to Cardinals for draft pick.

yabanci 08-31-2004 07:15 PM

Glad they got something in return for him. I read this story this morning:

Quote:

HAMBRICK WALKS OUT ON RAIDERS

A league source tells us that running back Troy Hambrick, frustrated by the fact that he wasn't slated to be the starting running back in Oakland, walked out of camp on Monday.

Per the source, Hambrick will now be released by the Raiders.

Look for Hambrick to draw immediate interest from the Dolphins, who are starved for running backs. Another possibility is Philadelphia, where the Eagles lost Correll Buckhalter a week or so ago.

The winner in this one might be running back Amos Zereoue, who might have been on the bubble with Hambrick, Ty Wheatley, and Justin Fargas on the depth chart.

You gotta be kidding me...

Suicane75 08-31-2004 08:48 PM

Someone oughta sit him down and explain to him that he just isn't very good.

JeeberD 08-31-2004 08:50 PM

I'm soooooooooo glad that Hambrick ain't in Dallas anymore.

Poor Emmitt...

Tasan 08-31-2004 10:42 PM

I nearly peed my pants when I heard this on the radio today. Hambrick, who whined his way to the starting job and helped "ease" Jerry's mind about jettisoning Emmitt, gets traded to the exact same spot he was in a few years ago...backing up Emmitt on a bad team.

JeeberD 08-31-2004 10:46 PM

You need to come around more, Tasan. I miss you... :(

What happened to Marcel Shipp?

General Mike 08-31-2004 11:14 PM

dola,

nevermind, shipp has a leg injury that appears season ending.

Tasan 08-31-2004 11:37 PM

Its nice to know I'm missed. I just can't find time anymore to do this except for when I really shouldn't be, like now, because I have to be at work in 8 hours or so....ugh jobs stink. I want to stay at home and take care of my son again......damn responsibity and all.

Growing up and getting responsible sucks:(

cthomer5000 09-01-2004 12:03 AM

wow, this is hilarious.

cthomer5000 09-01-2004 12:03 AM

dola. nice work by the Raiders - turning a stiff into something (no matter what it is).

JasonC23 09-01-2004 08:39 AM

This is funny. Couldn't have happened to a nicer, more humble, realistic guy.

Thomkal 09-01-2004 10:42 AM

As a Cardinal fan, I fell off the couch when I read this. My god our running game is going to be non-existent this year moreso than any other. They got DE Peppi Zellner in the same deal with Oakland. I'm familar with the name, but not the stats. He any good these days?

JeeberD 09-01-2004 10:55 AM

Peppi was never good back in his "prime"...

HornedFrog Purple 09-01-2004 10:56 AM

If you play the Redskins 16 times in a season, Peppi is pretty good.

JAG 09-01-2004 10:57 AM

Peppi's alright against the run, but has no pass rush ability whatsoever. If he's being counted on for more, he will disappoint.

totoro 09-01-2004 04:39 PM

A good deal for Silver and Black. Just win baby.

Comey 09-02-2004 10:24 AM

Just to add to the oddity, the Cardinals have acquired Aveion Carson off waivers from the Cowboys. He was the backup to Hambrick last year, early on, if I'm not mistaken.

HornedFrog Purple 09-02-2004 10:27 AM

Yeah Caison is a good little specialist back and has some returning skills. I think he was the odd man out in the numbers game with Richie Anderson and Julius Jones getting some 3rd down snaps.

Edit: and yes he was Hambrick's backup until he blew out his ankle.

JeeberD 09-02-2004 12:23 PM

Julius needs to me starting over Eddie with Eddie being the short yardage back...

Give it time...George will put up a 3.1 ypc and Parcells will give him a shot at it.

JAG 09-02-2004 12:32 PM

I hear Sherman Williams is available...

JeeberD 09-02-2004 12:34 PM

What about Derrick Lassic?

"Swirvin'" Curvin Richards?

JeeberD 09-02-2004 12:52 PM

Lincoln Coleman!!!!!!!!

Tasan 09-02-2004 09:34 PM

Coleman was looking like a stud til he broken his hip ala Bo Jackson.

I was at the Cards - Broncs game last night and watched Hambrick and Smith sitting on the bench chatting from halftime on...

I imagine the conversation went something like this...

Smith - "This is akward."
Hambrick - "I should be starting in front of you."
S - "You're like a goddamn lap dog."
H - "I wasn't a starter in Oakland, but their backs are better than you and I am better than them, my mom said so."
S - "Than me?"
H - "Yeah, they are only keepin you here to entertain us."
S - "Like This?"

Smith does his best impression of the Dirty Bird.

H - "I like happy bird dance! AGAIN! AGAIN!"
S - "Son, you couldn't outrun me when I'm 73 and I have to crawl everywhere because of operations to remove my battle scarred legs which will actually increase my height by some strange act of god."
H - "Uh, huuuuuh."
S - "Prove it."
H - "My dad can beat up your dad."

Just then, Avion Caison cops a squat..

Caison - "What are you guys talking about?"
S - "The good ole times."
H - "My omnipotence."
C - "We are on a shitty team."
H - "My cat's breath smells like cat food."
S - "Wheres my f@&*#$ benefiber."

JeeberD 09-03-2004 01:06 PM

You forgot...

H - "What do voluntary mean? My brother's still trying to figure that one out..."

cwilloughby 09-03-2004 02:03 PM

Nice one. Thanks for correcting the oversight :).
