Shaun Alexander Status?

I can't seem to get on any fantasy site without paying some absurd fee, but does anyone know if Shaun Alexander is out next week? I picked up Maurice Morris in case.

Apparently, he's listed as day to day, and it's still up in the air whether he plays next week or not..

On the local news they had an interview with him and he said that he felt fine by the end of the game, just minutes after it happened. He was laughing and acting like it was no big deal but admitted that the bone bruise did make his knee a little sensitive. Since he hasn't missed a game yet in his career, I'd bet that he plays. The question is, how many carries will the coach give him? I bet it will be in the 15-20 range. With Morris getting another 10-15.

Sometimes the ESPN message boards for a team can be helpfull, for example Holgrem was on a radio show Monday morning and someone posted his comments about Alexander on there.

Which were...? :)

From everything I've read thus far, he's still day to day, will probably be a last minute decision and will not see his usual workload if he does play.

That said, there is an outside chance that not only does he miss this week, but next week as well in what was said to be a worst case scenario.

Seattle is apparently getting Morris ready for the week, according to Sportsline. If I were Holmgren, I would think twice about possibly losing my starting RB for the season, rather than just for a few games at most. But then again, I'm not Holmgren, or........maybe I am?

Just announced on KJR...

Holmgren says "He could miss a game or two, MRI to come later today." Doesnt sound TOO serious, may be precautionary measures if he sits out.

I just happened to hear some Seattle reporter on ESPN Radio, and he said two things: (1) Alexander could play this week if his pain threshold was high enough, or he could miss 1 or 2 games; and (2) Seattle is considering letting him sit so that they can check out Morris, since Alexander will likely be gone next year.

On the latter point, I just read somewhere that Alexander was quietly shopped this off-season, to the Dolphins even. So, despite his numbers, the Seahawks obviously don't think too highly of him - or at the least, think he is replaceable.

I think he's only replaceable because it will be a big money deal to keep him there.

It was from PastaBelly's Morning After column:

Shaun Alexander scored three times for Seattle, but few people know that the Seahawks were kind of dangling him around the league this summer. They definitely called the Dolphins. There are some people in the organization who feel that Alexander, in the final year of his contract, isn't nearly as good as the leaguewide perception of him.

Then they are just severely misguided both in the evaulation and floating the fact he isn't very good when they are trying to trade him.

Look at his career numbers

CHEMICAL SOLDIER 09-15-2004 03:01 PM

I heard he was gonna be out for 2-3 weeks.

TLK 09-15-2004 11:41 PM

They don't need Alexander.... They have these guys.... :)

I don't think that is has as much to do with the Seahawks not believing in Alexander as it is the Seahawks believing that Morris is almost as good, at a far cheaper cap price.
