For all the Bears fans out there...

This one was sent to me by a Packer nut...a true cheesehead

I thought you might enjoy some Bear trivia now that football season is
here.

I'm sure you will enjoy this, especially the last one - mind blowing!

The Chicago Bears have a new stadium, and some new stadium firsts:

1st touchdown ever in new Soldier Field - Green Bay Packers

1st field goal ever in new Soldier Field - Green Bay Packers

1st sack ever in new Soldier Field - Green Bay Packers

1st blocked punt ever in new Soldier Field - Green Bay Packers

1st 100-yard rusher ever in new Soldier Field - Ahman Green, Green Bay
Packers

1st Bears interception ever in new Soldier Field - Green Bay Packers

Most touchdowns ever thrown in new Soldier Field - Three.

Record held by Brett Favre, Green Bay Packers

Most rushing yards ever in a game in new Soldier Field - 176 yards.

Record held by Ahman Green, Green Bay Packers

Most rushing touchdowns in a game in new Soldier Field - Two.

Record held by Ahman Green, Green Bay Packers

More Bears trivia that most Bears fans do not know

What quarterback holds the following records in "old" Soldier Field?

1. Most passing yards

2. Most completions

3. Most starts

4. Most touchdowns - 47

It's a Bears quarterback right? After all, they play 8 home games there a
year, right?
Is it the famous Jim McMahon? Erik Kramer? Cade McNown? How about Bob
Avelini?
No, Bears fans, it can only be the greatest quarterback to ever set foot
in Soldier Field -new or old.

You know who it is, right? Give up? Let me give you a hint . . .

He wears No. 4 for the Green Bay Packers!

All 4 Records held by Brett Favre, Green Bay Packers

JasonC23 09-15-2004 10:58 AM

Hmm, how interesting...

Bite me. :p

rjolley 09-15-2004 11:46 AM

Actually, it's not surprising since Farve has played 11 games in Soldier, not including playoffs, and the Bears have never really been a big passing team.

That being said, it sucks that a Packer holds records in our house.

It's good the Packers did this first in someone elses stadium, 'cause they sure as hell weren't the first to do them in their own. And to get beat out by John Avery and Aaron Elling in these categories.

And who could forget other records Brett Favre holds, like the first ever 4 INT game in the new Lambeau.

Neuqua 09-15-2004 12:22 PM

I heart mckerney

Raven Hawk 09-15-2004 12:22 PM

Chicago Bears: 26
Green Bay Packers: 20

How many Hall of Famers do you have in Canton?

MacroGuru 09-15-2004 12:25 PM

Hey now!

Wow, we know how to rile the bears fans up!!

Im not the cheesehead....I'm one of the only true blue Lions fans here in Utah, I can't even get a decent Lions cap here. Even the one I ordered on NFL.com disappeared...I don't think they are allowed in this state.

Ksyrup 09-15-2004 01:17 PM

I'm calling BS on the most starts in old Soldier Field. Favre has started, what, maybe 12 or so? Are you telling me that no Bears QB has ever started for them for 2 years, covering 16 home games? I find that ridiculous.

The rest I find funny.

JasonC23 09-15-2004 01:22 PM

Oh, you're a Lions fan. I guess it's OK, then.

(Thinks back to Sunday...)

Hey! You had your moment, leave us poor Bears fans alone! ;)

SirFozzie 09-15-2004 01:23 PM

Whew. I thought this thread was going to be indoorsoccersim's picks for the best in gay pr0n.

(grin, duck, RUN!!!!!)

I agree - that doesn't seem like it could possibly be correct.

Unfortunately, I'm too lazy to bother looking it up.

Bee 09-15-2004 01:34 PM

None of the "old" Soldier Field records can be correct unless you are talking about visiting quarterbacks.

rkmsuf 09-15-2004 01:35 PM

It might be right except for starts.

McMahon missed a ton of games in his Bear career.

Harbaugh no...started a lot of games but certainly not 47 home tds.

Billy Wade had a bunch of TDs way back.

Starts is the only one I have a serious doubt about.

Bee 09-15-2004 01:46 PM

Sid Luckman probably holds all the records.

Looking at the stats I'd say that is correct.

But...Luckman played his home games at Wrigley Field, not "old" Soldier Field.

blimey!

Bee 09-15-2004 01:58 PM

I thought Soldier Field was open in the 20's? Luckman played in the 40's.

From the Chicago Bears website:

Soldier Field Facts and Figures

Homes of the Bears
Staley Field 1920
Wrigley Field 1921-1970
Soldier Field 1971-2001
Memorial Stadium 2002
New Soldier Field 2003

rkmsuf 09-15-2004 02:01 PM

1971 was the Bears first season in the old Soldier Field.

Bee 09-15-2004 02:06 PM

Interesting. Didn't know that.

Probably is Favre that holds all those records then since McMahon was injured most of his career. :D

Funny stuff.

Fonzie 09-15-2004 02:08 PM

I still think the "starts" record is wrong - Jim McMahon alone played in 66 games for the Bears, and I'm hard-pressed to believe that 55 of those were road games.

Honolulu_Blue 09-15-2004 02:09 PM

Thank your team for helping us break our 24 game road losing streak. It was very important to get that monkey of our back.

Harbaugh had 89 starts

edit, that's 89 games played.

Yeah, I have a feeling that whoever wrote that was looking at the wrong data set when they wrote those last items.

Bee 09-15-2004 02:16 PM

That would be a really hard number to track down. You'd almost have to look at the starter game by game.

Neuqua 09-15-2004 02:18 PM

Expect as much from Packers fans, can't even get the data right.

rkmsuf 09-15-2004 02:18 PM

Favre couldn't have more than 15 total starts there including playoffs.

Hey now, play nice! I'm a Packers fan, and I'm skeptical of (some of) these claims. :)

Yep - in fact, the Packers and Bears haven't met in the playoffs since 1941, so we're looking solely at his regular season games there. And they played at Champaign-Urbana one year, so it is probably somewhere around a dozen games or so, as Ksyrup mentioned.

Bee 09-15-2004 02:25 PM

Here's Haubaugh's stats in Chicago:

Code:

year      team    G  GS  Att Com %  Yds Avg etc. etc. etc.
1987 Chicago Bears 6  0  11  8 72.7  62 5.6 21 0 0 86.2
1988 Chicago Bears 10 2  97  47 48.5  514 5.3 56 0 2 55.9
1989 Chicago Bears 12 5  178 111 62.4 1204 6.8 49t 5 9 70.5
1990 Chicago Bears 14 14 312 180 57.7 2178 7.0 80t 10 6 81.9
1991 Chicago Bears 16 16 478 275 57.5 3121 6.5 84t 15 16 73.7
1992 Chicago Bears 16 13 358 202 56.4 2486 6.9 83t 13 12 76.2
1993 Chicago Bears 15 15 325 200 61.5 2002 6.2 48 7 11 72.1

Unless the stadium was closed for renovations or something, he'd of had at least 15 starts in Soldier Field from just the 91 and 93 seasons.

Edit: Added header so the numbers are more obvious.

IMetTrentGreen 09-15-2004 05:21 PM

i have a bears question. how are vasher and tommie harris looking so far

Coffee Warlord 09-15-2004 06:15 PM

I didn't see much of Vasher, but word is he'll be good. I personally think he's an upgrade over McQuarters right now. ('Course, anyone is.)

Harris had a few nice plays vs Detroit. Too early in the season to really get much of a look at either yet, honestly.

IMetTrentGreen 09-15-2004 07:54 PM

you'll have to de-texas vasher first. when he got there he had superstar written all over him
