MNF: Minnesota @ Philadelphia

Let the battle of jackass receivers begin!

cthomer5000 09-20-2004 08:02 PM

Because I have a hard time watching MNF without money on it, I took the over (despite it being quite high at 51).

Buccaneer 09-20-2004 08:05 PM

Do you think that Moss and Owens could somehow have a head-on collision on the field and get them both out of football forever? Special teams maybe?

cthomer5000 09-20-2004 08:06 PM

I'm going to post with reckless abandon here. I really hate the virtual huge screen thing that they place on the field when the teams first come out of the tunnels. It just looks cheesy and needless. I've always gotten pumped enough just hearing the MNF intro music, seeing the aerial views of the stadium, and seeing the players under the lights.

I think an onsides kick situation where they are both on the 'hands' team is your only hope Bucc.

cthomer5000 09-20-2004 08:15 PM

mort!

mckerney 09-20-2004 08:18 PM

Why the hell was Elling brought back as a kickoff specialist?

To keep the other team from starting at their 40 on every posession?

Not very effective when he can't kick past the 15 with consistency. I understand bringing someone in to do it, but Elling's never been very good at kicking off.

JAG 09-20-2004 08:21 PM

Westbrook looks like Barry Sanders out there!

cthomer5000 09-20-2004 08:22 PM

BRian Westbrook reminds John Madden of Walter Payton.

cthomer5000 09-20-2004 08:27 PM

R-U rah rah, R-U rah har, hoo-rah, hoo-rah, Rutgers rah!

John Madden - one of the most annoying announcers around if not the MOST. Half the crap he says is just stupid.

cthomer5000 09-20-2004 08:41 PM

I'm grateful for the fact that Madden clarified the difference between a reverse and an end-around. Almost all broadcasters call everything where a WR touches the ball a reverse.

sovereignstar 09-20-2004 08:42 PM

Like Black-Eyed Peas would ask, Where Is the Defense?

sovereignstar 09-20-2004 08:43 PM

John Madden reminds me of a heavier Tim McCarver.

well, he was actually comparing one specific move Westbrook made, and he was compltely correct with the comparison.

Madden is usually a little too 'boom! bam! turducken!,' but when he calms down for a minute and actually talks football he makes some oustanding observations and does a great job explaining plays/schemes/the game in general.

cthomer5000 09-20-2004 08:45 PM

"This is when you want to get your roll on." - John Madden

cthomer5000 09-20-2004 08:46 PM

[guy betting the over] get in the f******* endzone! [/guy betting the over]

ABC asked the teams to go real light on defense tonight because of needed ratings.

sovereignstar 09-20-2004 08:47 PM

Go for it you pussies. You just lost the game.

I can see going for it, but there is no way they just lost the game by kicking the field goal.

Maybe a little brash, but come on - let's take a risk and send the right message.

Maybe they were thinking bad to Arizona.

They lost 'sending the right message' last time.

sovereignstar 09-20-2004 08:59 PM

Well gosh, I hope all of Andy Reid's kids can get a good education.

mckerney 09-20-2004 09:10 PM

Great play by Russell to get it before it went out.

mckerney 09-20-2004 09:10 PM

And that's the 2nd time this year Smith has dropped a handoff this year.

sovereignstar 09-20-2004 09:22 PM

Let me preface this 4th down by saying - GO FOR IT YOU PUSSIES!

sovereignstar 09-20-2004 09:23 PM

thnx

sabotai 09-20-2004 09:25 PM

Minnesota gets a great 4th down conversion and then Culpepper fumbles on the goalline.

cthomer5000 09-20-2004 09:26 PM

nice work, Daunte.

sovereignstar 09-20-2004 09:26 PM

Excuse me while I cry a river.

Maple Leafs 09-20-2004 09:26 PM

Just tuning in now... I must have missed a ton of memorable plays by Owens and Moss, right?

Joe 09-20-2004 09:27 PM

good to see culpepper is still fumbling away games

sovereignstar 09-20-2004 09:28 PM

A backfield consisting of Culpepper and Ahman Green would be lethal..in a literal sense.

wheels 09-20-2004 09:32 PM

How can a guy who is 6-4, 264 lbs have such a big problem gripping a football?? The guy is larger than many linebackers, he handles the ball all the time, can throw it a mile, yet . . .

I think Tiki Barber would be the first team RB there.

Supposedly he has pretty small hands for his size.

Edit: Please no comments concerning the size of his wang

edit: looks like I was beaten to the punch about Barber. :)

I cant believe he can throw a tight spiral with small hands.

gottimd 09-20-2004 09:42 PM

Gotta love Parlaying the under at this point! Go Eagles. I'm not a fan, just got some money on them.

Router Help 09-20-2004 09:42 PM

I like Tice's comment during the halftime show about Hovan. "I don't think calling Chris out in front of the team is a good way to reach him."

Maybe not coach, but I'm sure calling him out on national TV will work just fine. :D

sabotai 09-20-2004 09:46 PM

COOL! Alanis to kick off the second half...because when I think Alanis, I think football....

cthomer5000 09-20-2004 09:51 PM

interesting, I wasn't aware of this rule.

sabotai 09-20-2004 09:52 PM

Me neither. Interesting rule. Wonder what was the reasoning for it.

tucker rocky 09-20-2004 09:52 PM

Stuttering Bill Cirollo. :D

sabotai 09-20-2004 09:53 PM

That was funny as hell.

"However, the QB was an ine...in...snap..."

same here, I can't see why there would be a disctinction for shotgun vs. under center. It seems like either the QB should be a legal receiver, or he should not be.

tucker rocky 09-20-2004 09:56 PM

Flu...flu...ster...ing..:D

kingfc22 09-20-2004 10:05 PM

How much did the old guy falling play into that call? Didn't seem like the flag was thrown until there were like 4 or 5 guys around the guy on the ground.
