Steelers/Dolphins game....
Steelers-Dolphins game could be moved up
MIAMI (Sept. 23, 2004) -- The Miami Dolphins and Pittsburgh Steelers were investigating the possibility of moving their game up one day to Saturday, Sept. 25, because of the looming Hurricane Jeanne. The Steelers will fly to South Florida on Friday, one day ahead of their typical travel schedule. Dolphins spokesman Harvey Greene said no decision would be made before Friday morning. Hurricane Jeanne may hit Florida's east coast this weekend. The Dolphins' season opener against Tennessee was affected by Hurricane Frances; it was pushed ahead one day to Saturday because of the storm's anticipated arrival. The Titans beat the Dolphins 17-7. "Living in South Florida, we've seen first hand how dangerous a hurricane can be and we take any threat seriously," Dolphins president Eddie Jones said. "We have been in contact with the appropriate local authorities and the NFL and public safety remains the most important element of our decision-making process as we monitor the storm." The Dolphins playing on Saturdays makes sense, since their offense more closely resembles a college team's offense.
College teams score sometimes.
Maybe they should move it to Friday night and play along with the high school teams..

If they played against the High School teams, it might be a more interesting game. And I'm a Steelers fan. :) |
Yeah, the Dolphins offense against anyone, and Ben R. against the Dolphins' D...not good times. And then I think the Dolphins play Buffalo. These could be 3 of the worst games (including the Cinci game) to watch ever played back-to-back-to-back by one team.
The NFL should just announce it as a 3-0 win for the Steelers and be done with it.
The thing that annoys me about that is, if it's on Saturday, I want to see it!
The Steelers-Dolphins game remains set for a 1 p.m. kickoff Sunday in Pro Player Stadium, although the league formed contingency plans to switch the contest to Monday or Tuesday night, if necessary.
"Saturday is not a possibility. There's a small chance possibly ... that we'll play the game Monday or Tuesday. I think it's a very slim chance of that happening. But that's what's presented to us,"[said Steelers head coach Bill Cowher]. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/04268/384593.stm |
Latest update...
Friday, September 24, 2004 11:54 a.m. By Chuck Finder, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette The Steelers-Dolphins game is still scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday at Pro Player Stadium in Miami, despite news reports that the game would be played tomorrow because of the threat of Hurricane Jeanne. Steelers spokesmen said this morning that the NFL notified the team today that the game remains scheduled for Sunday, unless the hurricane dictates a change. When Steelers Coach Bill Cowher announced yesterday afternoon -- after talks with league officials -- that the club decided to leave 20-some hours earlier for Miami than originally planned, he maintained that Saturday wasn't a possibility for the game. Wire service reports this morning indicated otherwise, but a Steelers spokesman termed those "rumors." The hurricane is predicted to make landfall along the Atlantic Coast between Florida and the Carolinas sometime early Sunday. If the game cannot be played that afternoon, league officials have said that they could reschedule it for Monday or Tuesday night. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/04268/384828.stm |
Whatever happens I need big days from Ben R. and the Pittburgh defense for my fantasy league. My regular starters have byes this week so I took a chance by picking them up.

UPDATE:
Game moved from 1pm to 830pm Sunday. |
Was anyone else expecting the first post to consist only of "thought on the game, before, during, and after."?
Like 3 minutes of game time, and 3 turnovers already.
Make that 4 turnovers in about 7 minutes.
Is NFL Sunday Ticket the only outlet for this game?
Ugly, ugly game.

Yes. I am following with ESPN.com's play by play. Todd |
4 turnovers, and a half-quarter downpour. As if these offenses needed any more of a challenge.
The game is actually on CBS affiliates if you are in the PIttsburgh (and I'm assuming the Miami?) market.
Ugly first half of football. Both teams afraid to open up the playbooks, just 3 runs and a punt. 3 points may hold up. |
Or, in the case of Miami, 3 runs and a blocked punt.
Miami is in deeper crap than ever. Lamar Gordon hurt his shoulder - it looked bad - and now they've only got like 1 RB and a backup TE as the emergency RB. And who the hell is Leonard Henry, anyway? He's the starting (and only) RB right now. Anyone got Christian Okoye's number? |
Actually the game is not on cbs pittsburgh, kdka. Instead they are showing the insipid programming that CBS normally offers, and its on the upn channel i apparently dont get. F'in hurricanes.
same some video at halftime of the other game. .. WOW the field looks bad. the infield was just water...
I could see 3-0 holding up. |
Just curious, is it impossible to listen to any NFL game on radio through a webcast?
Or do you have to go through an NFL pay service for that now? I recall that you could easily find that stuff 2-3 years ago. |
you have to pay now.... but there is a 7-day trial or something to that effect
Found the game. Apparently it was on the CBS youngstown affiliate. Not that it makes any sense that it would be on there. It normally shows the Browns games.

then I guess I'll save it for something *really* special. :) |
How, in a game like this, do you decide to go for it on 4-and-1 from your own 45? Miami's only chance is playing the field position game, and they just gave itup to Pittsburgh. Wannstadt is clearly overmatched. He should be fired.
Fiedler got stuff'd trying to run a keeper on fourth and inches. God their offense sucks.

I imagine the wind is out of control... a punt is probably russian roulette. |
Holy shit....i didnt realize that douchebag went for it on his side of the 50. What a stupid fuck. Miami is gonna win this 7-6 i bet tho.
come on Roethlisberger...
What was the over under on this game?
No, there's very little wind. That rain was one single band from Jeanne that was hundreds of miles from the storm center. They've been punting all right...well, except for the blocked punt.

Porter just pwned Feeley. That had to hurt.
Perhaps Miami should try to put a body on Hines Ward?
We have a touchdown!!!
so have they hit rock bottom, or can they dig even deeper?
I dont know if Miami could get much worse. Feeley got his ass kicked for the most part of the game that I saw. Deshea Townsend had a high school "drive thru the blocking dummy" sack that just planted him on his ass. Miami ran some sort of tecmo bowl fake reverse give play that netted 12 or 13 yards rushing, which is their longest carry this season perhaps.
For the sake of the hard core Dolphins fans, you have to hope this season sinks Wanny.
Starting from the end of last regular season to right now, I have never seen a team have a worse offseason/start to a season. Nothing in the last 18 remotely reminds me of this. |
My lord... during the ESPN Sunday Night game, they had highlights of this game. I don't think I've ever seen field conditions so bad in a game!
I wouldnt have been so bad, but the field was set up for Marlins game, making a huge ass mud pit on half of the field.
Over/Under was 31.
