Big Ten Football: Week 3

The race for the Big Ten championship should start to unfold next weekend. Wisconsin plays Ohio State, a game which if Wisconsin win will probably eliminate Ohio State from Rose Bowl contention. If the Buckeyes win, then OSU and Wisconsin will be positioned behind Purdue and the winner of the Minnesota at Michigan game (assuming Purdue beats Penn State of course, which they should be able to do).

I'm looking forward to the Gophers matchup with Michigan, a game that if they win puts them in very good shape. Hopefully the running attack can do what they did to Michigan last year, though without any kind of horrible, horrible breakdown by the defense. :(

The Gophers hopes to finally go to the Rose Bowl must live on.

Don't forget the marquee MSU/UI matchup!!!! Could be one for the ages.

I'm going for Michigan because NU needs Minnesota to lose twice in order to go to the Rose Bowl.

Michigan/Minnesota should be a good one. Michigan is not a great football team. Their QB is a freshman. He's got a decent arm, but makes a ton of freshman mistakes and has hard a time settling down. Luckily he's got a great receiver corps to loft the ball up to. The running game, however, is horrible. It's been a long time since Michigan has had such a poorous run offense. It's not good.

Their defense is solid and opportunistic, but is capable of getting burned, especially since their offense can put them into some comprising situations.

Purdue certainly looks like the best team in the Big Ten right now.

It was such a close game. How about those Gophers?

Minnesota/Iowa game had some of the worst "hometown" officiating I have ever seen. How Iowa got out with a win is beyond me.

Seeing this bumped reminded me of how irritating the MSU/UI game was. And now I'm hearing rumors that Ron Turner will be back next year. Needless to say, I'm glad basketball season is here.

Show me some proof that you are.

Also, it's pretty well-known that either MSU or UI is the best team in the Big Ten this season. I'm betting on the Spartans and Tom Izzo.

I'll take u up on that bet Schmidty-san.

Only lost two marginal players. Starters all come back with more experience. Deron Williams pre-season Big Ten player of the year. #5 preseason.

It's hard to prove it with the season not having actually started yet. But show me the MSU/IU proof.
