What happend to Gone Gold ?

Blackadar 11-09-2004 07:20 AM

Gone Gold died about a month ago. The site owner, Rich, just shut it down one day - no explanation given, no warning. I really enjoyed that site.

It scattered to a few different places:

Console Gold
PC Game Forum
and at least one other that I can't remember right now.

While Rich may deserve our compassion for his known health problems, I think what he did was disrespectful to everyone who frequented that site.

The RCT 3 values are pretty good. I really like it, since it gives me a reason to visit the front page now! Thanks! :)

So is this gonna exclusively be for PC games? Or include console ones as well.

Blackadar 11-09-2004 08:23 AM

Probably stick to PC games for a while. We may branch out to consoles if I can get some help doing it. I have an XBox, but I don't know what a PlayStation, Nintendo or other gaming platform "deal" is because I don't keep up with those systems.

Great job. Bill Harris' articles and the 'value of the week' were the only things I went to Gone Gold for. Now that Bill has moved to dubiousquality.blogspot.com and the FOFC has 'value of the week' I no longer miss the site.

Keep up the good work.

*bump* for suggestions on other sites to look for deals.

mckerney 11-09-2004 03:32 PM

I hear there are some great for trade deals for Net Detective...

...I got nothing.

Bump. Updated for this week.

EagleFan 11-14-2004 03:45 PM

Nice job with the page.

not exactly true, I remember reading a post on that frontpage about how he was not going to do the site anymore (and why) and about his blog which is how he wanted to write from now on.

I wish I had seen this before I payed ten dollars more for EQ2 than it is selling at Target.

Passacaglia 11-14-2004 06:08 PM

This looks nice! Can we get a link to the FCFL in the leagues section, though? The link is in my signature. Thanks!

Chubby,

I think you're confusing Bill Harris, who wrote a lot of articles for the front page, with Rich, who was the founder and owner of the site.

Bill Harris' departure was about two months before the site shut down, and the two events were unrelated.

Blackadar 11-14-2004 08:49 PM

Godzilla has it right...

GG was shut down with no notice or warning.

Blacky, I'd still 'like' to see a Hattrick (hattrick.org) link for soccer. :)

ahhh that could be it. I went there sporadically and certainally not on a regular basis. I just remember the part about the blog so that probably was Bill.
