OT: Being Fantasy Football Commish
 

It is now Week 11 out of 13 in a rather large fantasy football league that I am commissioner of. 2 Months before the season started I had sent out rules, scoring system, etc. I had told all players to review and let me know if they would like anything changed. I didn't hear anything.

Now, I have one person complaining that the Trade evaluation period and acceptance is unheard of, and one person has claimed that the scoring system is unfair. Of course these are the last place teams, but in either case, the changes would not have helped them that much. One is 2-9, and the other 3-7. Myself and 4 other GM's reneged a trade that the last place person was trying to pull off with the second place team, but I was attacked for not letting it go through. I stated my points, and the following week, I was correct in my assumption as well as the last few weeks.

Do any other League commissioners get this type of complaining? I could see if I didn't put the scoring system and rules out there to be voted on Two Months Prior to the season starting, but I did, and they had plenty of time to review and let me know of changes. I specifically stated in the email that I sent out to all players to review the rules and scoring so that midway through the season I wouldn't hear any complaining, and if they had any problems, to let me know and I would change. Nope, they waited til nearly the end of the season to argue the rules.

I guess you know not to invite those players next year.

I wouldn't give either a second thought.

YES! All the time. I once had this league where I provided ample time for discussion of the rules. In the Middle of the Draft, one of the guys noticed a rule he didn't like and wanted it changed, after half of the draft had gone by! Most people were like, suck it up, you had plenty of time to look it over (I believe the rule was taking away Return TDs from the Defense and giving it to the individual player).

The problem is they just want to sign up and don't care to look at the rules until they are looking to do something which they feel should net them more points.

At least this happened early.

That was basically my response, except I got very belligerent after they continued to attack me. Something on the lines of on the League Message Board "Listen up F*** Sticks, you had plenty of F***** time to read the rules". When I join a league, I read the rules and stuff, especially if its for money.

That probably helped.

I reckon this goes on quite a bit. Sour grapes and all...

I have never complained about a league's rules. I have suggested rule changes for a following year, once it starts to become obvious something's not working, but after a draft and/or the first week of play, things are more or less set, unless everyone agrees to change it.

That said, my team sucks so bad in the FOFC sportsline league, I should start complaining. In fact, I will begin now.

Sachmo, whatever rule that is making my team suck so bad I want it changed. Now. No. NOW!!! Either that or I am taking my game elsewheres!!
