OT: Question-Dirk Nowitzki sets NBA record?

Dirk scored 53 against the lame Rockets. My question is, is that a record for a foreigner in the NBA? I have been trying to think of other foreign-born players and can't think of anyone who has topped that thus far...

JeeberD 12-03-2004 03:10 PM

Drazen Petrovic had a huge game years and years ago, but I can't remember exactly how many he had...

And hey! Only Rockets fans can call them lame...

i think that foreigner that played for jersey that died set it in late 80's in a car accident ..i forgot his name. he was elected to hall of fame

JeeberD 12-03-2004 03:12 PM

Dola-

Looks like his career high was 44...

Heh, and Drazen's huge game was against the Rockets.

Kooky...

did Hakeem Olajuwon ever score in the 50s?

HornedFrog Purple 12-03-2004 03:15 PM

Drazen was a badass on the Genesis... him and Tom Chambers. :)

Franklinnoble 12-03-2004 03:16 PM

Maybe Hakeem?

Yes.

I'm trying to find proof right now, but I'm 99% sure that he did...

JeeberD 12-03-2004 03:24 PM

Best I can find right now for Hakeem is 49 against Seattle in '86-'87...

the records where the D wasn't playing due to a scoring title contest are a joke (like Robinson's and probably Gervin's and Thompson's as they are the same day)

To be honest, Jeebs, I don't remember Hakeem ever scoring 50 but my memory isn't that great at single game stats.

SI

CHEMICAL SOLDIER 12-03-2004 06:51 PM

If I remember corrrectly I think Hakeem scored 50 either in 94 or 95. Could be wrong though.

21C 12-04-2004 12:39 AM

Hakeem scored a high of 52 vs. Denver 4/19/90 ( bottom of page ).

Tim Duncan is technically a foreigner since he was born in the Virgin Islands and has a high of 53 vs. Dallas 12/26/01. The Virgin Islands are listed as a non-US country here and Duncan is listed as foreign player here.

Patrick Ewing was born in Jamaica and had a high of 51.

Werent the Rockets supposed to be good with Tracy "I used to be on bad teams" Mcgrady?

JeeberD 12-04-2004 01:33 PM

Maybe we would be in we had a coach that actually understood what the word "offense" means...
