Let's go UCLA!

Yay! Kill the Trojans!

Hates_Cakesniffers 12-04-2004 03:14 PM

Games like this make me yearn for the return of the tie. Every year this game should be 0-0 played in a cold, miserable downpour.

But, yes, go Bruins, go Vols (equally yuck), go Buffaloes.

Let's see 'em all end up with one loss.

Eaglesfan27 12-04-2004 03:26 PM

GO TROJANS!

Eaglesfan27 12-04-2004 03:40 PM

OH REGGIE!!!!

Celeval 12-04-2004 03:53 PM

How about that hit by #8 on the UCLA trailer.

Eaglesfan27 12-04-2004 04:02 PM

My 52-0 prediction that I made last week is looking good so far :)

Not so good anymore. :)

we might have a game here.... let's see if UCLA's offense can get this in the end zone...

Noop 12-04-2004 04:37 PM

Reggie Bush is sick.

Eaglesfan27 12-04-2004 04:37 PM

Reggie does it again!

True ;)

I'll take a 52 point margin of victory as a close enough prediction (although at this rate it looks like it will be in the 30 to 40 range.)

Really? They're going to have to score a lot more than the Bruins in the second half then. :)

10 point swing there.... bad call

Eaglesfan27 12-04-2004 04:54 PM

They usually score a lot more than all of their opponents in the 2nd half.. I don't know the stats off hand, but their ratio of scoring/opponent scoring is much higher in the 2nd half than the 1st half..

As an aside, UCLA got screwed on that call.

Oh, I know USC is a great second half team, but to make your prediction comne true they will have to beat the Bruins by 40 in the second half. I don't see that.

We were screwed on that call, but there is no doubt we're getting dominated in this game. We seem to have your offense sans Bush bottled up, but when he touches the ball we can't handle it. And your defense is playing great.

Eaglesfan27 12-04-2004 05:03 PM

I did say that it is more on course for 30-40 point margin of victory. I agree with you that a 52 point margin of victory is highly unlikely at this point. However, I think a 30-40 point margin of victory is quite likely still.

I agree with your analysis. I'm very happy with the USC defense, and only moderately happy with the offense. But, I expect the offense to be potent in the 2nd half.

Chief Rum 12-04-2004 05:22 PM

Is it just me or does it seem like Manny White is already falling before he even reaches the line of scrimmage when he gets the ball? I mean he isn't even touched--it's like he has decided to dive every time he approaches the line of scrimmage.

I love the Manster but he needs to start running with more authority. Even against USC's NFL defense, White is a load to handle.

Eaglesfan27 12-04-2004 05:52 PM

Well, I didn't give UCLA nearly enough credit. The team is fighting really hard, and even a 30 point victory seems highly unlikely. UCLA is playing well in many respects, and might have me scared if a few breaks had gone their way.

Eaglesfan27 12-04-2004 05:53 PM

Dola -

Heck, they have me a little worried now. That was too easy for UCLA..

Chief Rum 12-04-2004 06:00 PM

Disbelief dripping off of Keith Jackson's voice...

"And they're back in the game." :D

Truth be told, you shouldn't be surprised when the offense does good. Despite what we were doing through most of today, this is a pretty strong offense. It's what the defense has been doing that you should be stunned at.

USC is driving right now, though (but Leinart got sacked, ouch).

CR

Eaglesfan27 12-04-2004 06:45 PM

Oh my! :(

Come on defense!!

Eaglesfan27 12-04-2004 06:46 PM

Well due to the slow board, by the time this was done posting the USC defense made an interception! :)

Celeval 12-04-2004 06:53 PM

Hell of a game. MrBug, I feel your pain.

Chief Rum 12-04-2004 06:54 PM

Yeah, the slow board today has just been killing me.

Missed opportunities. That's what this one was all about. I could write a book detailing all of the different ways we could have won this game. I am very proud of UCLA and the way they played today.

This is a terrific USC team, and Reggie Bush (his last fumble notwithstanding) was amazing. Everyone is talking about Bush thrusting himself back into the Heisman picture. I am honestly wondering if Leinart took himself out of the picture. Well, except that half the ballots are probably already mailed.

One thing I am proud of is that we played this well against the best team in the nation with a ton of great recruits on the sideline, including star QB Ben Olson.

Karl Dorrell is on to something here, and I think this close loss shows we're closing the gap.

Good game USC and good luck in the Orange Bowl.

Double Dola -

I have to give UCLA credit, they fought hard today and did a heck of a job to make it a ball game.

Now, I have to decide if I should try to get tickets to the national championship game...

Aw... poor little bears...

The USC-UCLA game had always been one of my favorite rivalries growing up - back to the days of OJ and then Anthony Davis - even though I lived in Syracuse. I still enjoy watching this game (or at least parts of it).
