yet another winger question thread :)
instead of hijacking another one of the winger threads, i thought it was best to start my own.
like everyone else apparently, i will be in the market for a winger soon. my question is how much does a winger played offensively contribute to the midfield. i mean like about half as much as a person played as a midfielder? i ask because im debating on if its really work looking for it in my purchase. |
The "offensive" instruction has nothing to do with midfield contribution. It tinkers with their winger and defense skills. If your winger has good playmaking skill, they'll be contributing to your midfield. If they do not, they will not. Wingers are second to inner midfielders and are the only other contributor to the rating (except for instruction-based contributions like an offensive defender or a defensive forward) so whatever you can get is worth it.
As an aside, in my opinion, defense trainers should be playing one pure winger and one possession winger. |
i appreciate the post, but this isn't quite what i was looking for. i was wanting more of something like the percentage of midfield contribution compaired to a normal midfielder or maybe x number of levels of playmaking help raise your midfield rating y levels.

Like you, I've heard that a non-TM winger contributes half as much as an inner mid with the same PM and stamina. This info comes from the winger federation, apparently somebody has tried to study it.
And although it's my training plan, I wonder how much you should bother looking for wingers with PM - I'd think, unless you've got really good mids already and salary is an issue, that you could get more midfield bang for your buck by upgrading there rather than paying more for a winger with PM... |
From the Winger fed (or was it a French National post game debate)
- 50% of his PM abilities when played offensively - 75% of his PM abilities when played Towards Middle |

this means 50% and 75% of his abilities compared to if he played as a normal midfielder correct? so say you have 3 wingers with excellent pm and 2 wingers with excellent pm. all have excellent stanima. and you are running a 3-5-2. so playing the 2 wingers offensively would be equivalent to having a 4th inner midfielder (if that was possible in ht), correct? this is what i was looking for. thanks |
