What your idea for College Football Playoff?

my idea will be take the top 8 teams in the BCS poll and have a playoff.

then have 4 bowl games for the quarterfinal and then 2 bowl games for the semifinal and one bowl game for the chapionship..

each year you rotate the bowls, so a different bowl will get to host the championship game..

12 teams, 11 conf. champions, one at-large. seeding done by BCS rankings. Top 4 get byes. First round at home sites. Second round at home sites. Third round at BCS bowls, Finals at BCS bowls. Top 2 teams left out of playoff (this year Cal and Georgia) would play at the other BCS bowl leading into the final or the weekend before.

Dola- The reason for only two rounds in the bowls is for travel purposes. I, as a fan of a team that goes to bowls, enjoy the trip and the game. If there's not much travel time, it's harder to go to the games. I wouldn't mind having the semis at home sites either (like the NFL) and then having one huge game at the end either.

However, the home sites will get people to go to the games and will also give a home field advantage to the higher seed. By having them in the first two rounds, you know exactly where 8 games are going to be (the first round's winners would be set going to the home field of the bye-earners).

You can remove a non-conference game if you're worried about a long season.

Then, go with one of two options:

1. Ten conference champs. Top six based on BCS-type ranking get a bye. Lower four battle it out to get into quarterfinals. Simple.

2. Ten conference champs. They're in. Then take the ten conference championship game losers and match 'em up for five more spots in a sixteen-team field. Finally, match up the two highest-rated non-divisional winners (such as Texas of late) for the sixteenth and final spot. This obviously requires a lot of extra games for some teams, so it probably wouldn't fly. However, if you're not going to only allow conference champs, then I think it's fair for at least two non-divisional winners to have a shot as well. Again, if this was in place this year, it gives a team like Texas a shot, which seems fair if you'd be giving a team like Colorado a second-chance.

Either:

1) Eight highest ranked conference champions plus eight highest-ranked non-conference champs

Or

2) Four highest ranked conference champs plus four highest-ranked non-conference champs

All rounds except finals at higher seed home field. Finals at a BCS bowl. First round losers are eligible for other bowl games including remaining BCS bowls. (Either this or semis held at two BCS sites, a consolation game at prior year's championship site, and championship at remaining BCS site)

Four highest ranked teams after the bowl games (BCS type formula with computers, polls and strength of schedule), with the requirement that you must have won your bowl game to qualify.

how does I-AA seed their playoff bracket?

to me it would have to be all conference winners + X at-large teams.

I don't think all 1-aa conference winners go to the playoffs.

11 conference winners, 6 at large. A playin game between the 2 lowest ranked teams.

Take all the colleges, and put their names in a hat. Draw three names, without replacement. The first two names drawn are the teams that play for the championship. The third name determines the site of the game.

16 teams, all conference champs get automatic bids, at large teams chsoen based on BCS ranking. Seeding based on BCS ranking. First two rounds at higher seed stadium. Final rounds at Current BCS bowl sites. Non payoff teams can still play in bowls that have no meaning
