Anyone playing Everquest 2

I just picked it up last week and am amazed at the depth. The tradeskills and quest system are dramatically improved and the graphics of course are breathtaking. I was planning on keeping my EQ 1 account too, but cancelled it after 2 sessions with the new game. It just can't measure up anymore.

Would be interested in the thoughts of anyone else who is playing the game.

I've been playing. I have really enjoyed it so far. Of course, I'm about to get into the area where I normally quit playing these games (I haven't been able to play since Tuesday, so I'm sure all my friends ave gotten four levels on me and I'll be begging strangers for groups again). It is much improved over EQ1, and has better depth than any of the other online games I've played.

I'm definitely playing and having a blast! Went to the Stormhold dungeon with a great group last night and we just cleared the place out. Plus I am loving the crafting system.

This just made me think, how do these games play over a wireless connection? Is there a lot of lag? I'm wondering if it is worth getting a copy on my laptop.

If your wireless connection is good then you will play fine. The bigger concern might be whether your laptop's video card can handle the game.

I play EQ2. The game is fun, so far... 26 Berserker/27 Weaponsmith. Still curious if the game will be fun at 50/50.

Turn it down to bare minimums and I'm pretty sure it'll be ok. I'm not expecting it to look like my desktop.

Just a couple of things to think about. Try to make sure there are no other wireless devices such as phones in between the wirless router and your laptop. There's a good chance you will get disconnected from the internet and thus whatever game you might be playing online. Same thing goes for a microwave oven.

I have 2 characters I have been playing on Permafrost:

Loblo - 11 Dwarf Crusader
Fleabane - 14 Dark Elf Druid

The game has been fun so far but I don't know how long it will hold my interest. I should have more time to play this coming week.

I get seriousseriousserious frame rate problems. I love the game, but after zoning once or twice, the game becomes damn near unplayable. I think I need more RAM. I remember when 512MB was enough to comfortably run anything. :(

This game was made for the next generation of computers and video cards (the top graphics recommend 256meg cards that don't even exist). It is not a bad plan when you plan on having players in the game for several years to go ahead and make it as progressive as possible.

they do actually- you can get a Radeon 9600 with 256MB, or a FX5500 with the same amount - and that's a medium level card. But ya- I know what you're saying.

Oh, I certainly understand. I knew from the beginning that I was near the minimum specs as far as video card and memory go. I was just reflecting. :)

How are you liking weaponsmith? My main just made 20 in it. So far I haven't gone any farther because of major resource bottlenecks, it's really difficult to get any neolith tempers.
