TCY/FOF Interactive Sign-Up Thread
I always love these things and now it is my turn to give it a whirl. The problem, as I see it, is that the dynasty always ends before you get into the FOF part, or so it seems. Barring a computer meltdown, this will not be the case here. I have a 10 month dynasty that is soon to end, so you can see I don't quit on these things- I hope to let it ride into, well, into however long there is still interest and enjoyment being had by those involved. If your guy ends up as major suckage, start a new one.
I don't care how good your player is or will be- better players mean longer careers. Longer careers mean more involvement and fun to see how good you can become. With this as my hope (studs all over the place), you can pick any relevant parameter. To whit:
TCY- I will be on 2nd string so I can see information not available on All-Star. My team will be a Sol8 in Alaska, run by computer. FOF- default options. I will be Arizona(?), run by computer unless/until any FOFC player is on the team, at which time I will trade him to a team of his choosing, if possible. Or, at your request, I can draft all or any FOFC college player and trade you to the team of your choice, if possible. So, sign up and answer the following, please:
Since I haven't done this before, I am open to suggestions as to the basics of these interactive dynasties. Comments...are we ready for another one of these at this time? I hope so. (post.too.damn.long)(ugggg) |
I'm in!
I'd like to be the highest-ranked ILB in the recruiting pool! Random thoughts... One thing that strikes me with these kinds of dynasties is that they can quickly spiral out of control because of the number of people that sign up. Even twenty participants make for a hell of a lot of reporting over the course of one season. I think it's also hard to follow the other players when there are so many involved: the dynasty can quickly become one long list of player reports. I've thought of doing a similar dynasty, but I was thinking that I would ask two FOFC members to represent one player in the dynasty, and then limit the dynasty to the first 24 people that sign up. That would give you 12 players to report on each season, which seems reasonable to accomplish. Any decisions to be made by the player would have to be made by the two FOFC members agreeing as to what their player would do. In general, I think it's harsh to have to limit the number of people to sign up, but the reality is that following the careers of 30 players or so gets incredibly time-consuming. These are just some random ideas, feel free to steal them or ignore them as you like. I wont be doing such a dynasty (for football anyway) in the near future. |
I'd like to be the highest rated RB around.
I'll echo GB's thoughts, when Blade and I did this type of thing, we were only playing the TCY end and limited it to 3 or 4 new signups a year so that we'd get turnover and be able to push along at a decent pace without having to report on 100 guys each week and it seemed to work pretty well that way. Not sure how well that'd work with adding the NFL end of it, but hey, if you're willing to take us all on, more power to you! |
I'd like to be the highest rated QB in all the land.
|
QB #2 please. :)
|
#1 OLB please!
DE-FENSE!! |
I would like the highest ranked player from West Virginia. :) If he looks like he will not be in the top 500 or so, I will be the highest ranked player from North Carolina.
|
I wanna be the #1 rated WR!
Edit: Name: Kel Whit
|
Rob Nielsen, Stud QB #3!
|
Colton Mayes, Stud RB#2!
|
Real or random?
|
Random. Let's make it amusing.
Just don't let me get taken by Notre Dame, as per usual requirements. :) |
I was hoping to restart mine as soon as I got my computer problem fixed, but you beat me to it. Good luck with this.
If there are any top 1000 players from the following high schools, make me the highest from: Norcross High in Norcross, GA or Palm Bay High in Melbourne, FL If not then make me the #1 WR in Florida.
|
1. I'd prefer real reps.
2. Sounds good, as long as it is none of the participants' favorite team. 3. Default settings sound good. 4. Maybe for players that don't look like they will be taken in the first three rounds, you could do the draft and trade. |
Tim Brice - #1 RB in the land
|
Danny Wilson #1 DE in the land
And I am all for what GB said. |
1. Real Reps for Team and Conference, Academics
2. Arizona is fine. 3. Default 4. I'd prefer random assignment personally, but I can understand if others would want to pick their teams, so maybe that is better? I'm assuming we could always just say stay where we're drafted (if we ever get drafted, that is). |
Real reps, don't mind on the rest.
|
Quote:
Travis already called #1, and im at #2...try again goldeneagle |
Benton Gale - #1 CB
And TA - I'll help with writeups however I can. |
James Clark
If possible, I'd like to be the top rated DT in the land, if not, then being the #2 DT would be fine. 1. Real reps 2. crummy 3. Default 4. draft and trade. |
So far:
special means I have to look for certain attributes or locations first. I will obviously be breaking this up into classes so, for example, CW will be the #1 QB in the second class instead of #3 in the first, etc... Barring late voting, we will be going with real reps. |
Cody Myers, Pennsylvania's top Quarterback.
|
If you want real names, illinifan999 = Daniel Ertmann and real reps sound good.
|
Don't need a 'real' name, just what you want to call your player. If you want to be known as Illi Nifan, or whatever, doesn't matter to me. ;)
|
ntndeacon=Derrick Copeland
|
My name can be Tang Le Wood, French exchange student. Or something.
|
Spell my name right. :)
(Rob Nielsen - note the last name) |
I'd just go with Godzilla Blitz for a player name, if that's ok.
|
I would like to be called Inigo Montoya!
|
Kevin Heath, #1 safety in the country.
|
JeeberD Mack
Highest rated OLB in the state of Texas, por favor... |
Rob Maier would like to be the #1 studly offensive tackle.
|
Jesse Ewiak - #1 RB out Pennsylvania
|
Sorry CW. :o
I'm off for winter break in, oh, about 2 hours. We will be starting this puppy in earnest this weekend and rockin/rollin from there. Breeze, thanks for the offer, and when I figure out how I'm going to present this (like others have or whatever, have not actually thought about it yet), I'll check back |
WOULD THIS WORK
One thought I had, and maybe it has been done before, I don't know, is that maybe I would handle the TCY and someone else would take the draft import file I get from the TCY part and do the Pro part of the dynasty. I would e-mail or PM the file and they would do the pro write-up???
Has that been done? I don't know how much work both parts would be. Maybe I should just have 2 seperate sections- one college, one pro- for this dynasty to make each part easier to follow. Thoughts??? |

Does this mean we get the 2005 class info tonight? :)
|
No, it means I have it down on paper but am too tired (lazy?) to type it into my Excel sheet to post it. It will be up 2morrow, for sure. Sorry I am so lazy- that's part of being on vacation, right? ;)
|
