NFL Puzzle, 2005 alpha

Saints/Steelers
Falcons/Eagles
Falcons/49ers
Falcons/Vikings
Giants/Vikings
Chiefs/Vikings
Chiefs/Titans
Vikings/Titans

Joe 01-03-2005 11:17 AM

vikings suck

QuikSand 01-03-2005 11:19 AM

My first thought was black quarterbacks facing one another... but I can't get the Chiefs in there. Falcons, Vikings, and Titans all show up multiple times - that has to be meaningful.

Didn't Moon spend time with the Chiefs?

QuikSand 01-03-2005 11:25 AM

...or the Giants.

Shepp 01-03-2005 11:29 AM

Memebers of the caosching staff from the first column came from the teams in the second.

Nope

Maple Leafs 01-03-2005 11:30 AM

With the 49ers, Vikings, Steelers, Eagles and Falcons all listed, it seems like we have just about all of the top rushing QBs potentially included.

WSUCougar 01-03-2005 12:07 PM

Get on it, cuervo. ;)

cuervo72 01-03-2005 12:19 PM

Heh, I'm sitting here thinking...it can't have much to do with teams that have played this year, as the Saints and Steelers haven't.

General Mike 01-03-2005 01:16 PM

Giants/ Vikings is Fred Robbins

cuervo72 01-03-2005 01:31 PM

*Is*? Definitively?

cuervo72 01-03-2005 01:39 PM

Only brainstorm I had was that maybe this didn't have much to do with the NFL at all...but maybe the cities - or states - stood for something. There seem to be distinct runs there, and thought maybe the Steelers/Eagles was standing for PA and was just there to throw us off a little. Can't link anything there though, so probably on the wrong track.

WSUCougar 01-03-2005 01:40 PM

My, it's cold in here. B-r-r-r-r-r! :D

WSUCougar 01-03-2005 02:32 PM

Need a hint?

Having the Falcons and the Vikings on there so much makes me think this is related to playoff losses. However, the Saints/Steelers have never met in the playoffs.

Perhaps losing streaks? Winning streaks? More yards rushing than passing?

panerd 01-03-2005 02:51 PM

What are games that I wouldn't watch if they were on TV?

Actually seriously, what was the answer to the last one so I have some idea of the direction we are headed. I guess I could look it up but that seems like a lot of work.

cuervo72 01-03-2005 02:55 PM

I have no idea on this one.

WSUCougar 01-03-2005 02:59 PM

Hint: This one's specifically player-oriented.

cthomer5000 01-03-2005 03:01 PM

if it's player oriented, here are a few that come to mind:

Falcons/Vikings = Morten Andersen?

Vikings/Titans = Gary Anderson?

QuikSand 01-03-2005 03:05 PM

(reaching) Maybe it's teams who have guys with homonym last names...

Atlanta kicker Jay Feely probably played against Philadephia QB AJ Feeley last season. (I don't think they spell their names the same, but they sound the same)

The Morten Andersen / Gary Anderson theme would fit here as well, of course.

I got nothing.

WSUCougar 01-03-2005 03:06 PM

Suddenly it's VERY warm in here.

If that were the case then Saints/Steelers could be Todd Bouman/Grant Bowman

cuervo72 01-03-2005 03:06 PM

Deuce/Duce had occurred to me.

QuikSand 01-03-2005 03:08 PM

Don't get us started with all the different NFL variations on spelling the name "Antoine."

Maybe this is just the combinations of two NFL teams that the two kickers have been on through their long careers at any given time. I personally don't remember Gary Anderson kicking for the Eagles or 49ers, but it certainly could have happened without my noticing or remembering.

This is the correct answer.

These two guys (a) are ancient, (b) have both been in the league since 1982, and (c) have played on the same team but at different times, so I thought it'd be rather tricky.

Damn Argonauts gave it away... :)

cthomer5000 01-03-2005 07:13 PM

good to see I was on the right track. I had to bail right after tossing that idea out there.
