Who saw this, what did you think of it?

It was pretty confusing and I didn't think I'd like it, but in the end I did, really because of the whole concept.. discuss.

I loved it. I'm also a sucker for Jim Carrey in a serious role -- two of my favorite movies of all time are 'The Truman Show' and 'The Majestic.'

That being said, I think this was a fantastic movie even beyond my biased opinion.

I loved it, but I love Charlie Kaufman.

It was absolutely wonderful :D. One of my favorite movies of all time. I also love Jim Carrey in the dramatic role. Though I think even if I didn't like him, I would have loved the movie. It really reinforces that we forget the good parts of relationships that go sour.

One of the five best movies I've ever seen.

It beautifully illustrates the point that life *is* our memories. No matter what you've gone through and how you've felt about it, those memories and experiences make you the person you are.

I liked it I guess, although definetly didn't love it.

Took me a bit to catch on to what was going on because the kid was bugging me a little in the begining. And I didn't see the very end, so not sure what happened there.

Ah... you GOTTA see the absolute end. It really puts an exclamation point to the movie, at least to me, it did.

Great, that figures. Well I will have to wait until it's on HBO hopefully. I had to watch it by myself since the wife wanted nothing to do with it (she hates the chick in it), so I don't think I would bother renting it again.

Amazing Amazing movie- loads of fun. Might be the First DVD I actually buy.

Kate Winslet

Eh... she doesn't like Kate Winslet or the character of Clementine?

It's a great movie. Right after seeing it I didn't think it was as good as Adaptation, but looking back (and I've watched parts of each since then) it seems close. Charlie Kaufman basically has written 3 near perfect scripts in Being John Malkovich, Eternal Sunshine and Adaptation. Human Nature pretty much sucked, though.

Well, ya can't be perfect ;). 3-1 good to bad is pretty good :D.

Carrey's "ok" at the end of the movie is just perfect. I love what can be said about relationships from the movie.

I read that the DVD commentary explains why the Dr.'s assistants are such screwups. Why is that--because my first reaction is that their unprofessionalism was tacked on in order to move the plot. I'd like to hear their reasoning behind it (but did not want to watch the movie all over again with commentary on just to hear that).

Amazing movie, it really makes you take a long hard look at your own views of your memories. I found it both amazingly entertaining and mildly disturbing at the same time.

GOnna go out and buy this very soon, I didn't get it for xmas as I'd hoped I would =)

Very good movie. I had the thrill of watching it with my parents and grandma on x-mas day. Needless to say, my grandma was totally lost and I'm not sure that Kauffman movies are my parents' bag either.

Gotta love that scene where he's trying to bury that memory and he's..um..floggin' the dolphin. Grandma = akward

Yea, I watched it with my Mom and she's probably caught me doing that.

So it was kind of awkward.

Overrated claptrap.

Just saw this. My experience was generally like Shorty's. A little confused int he early going and not sure if I had really gotten something better than some artsy indie movie. But then they started trying to escape the erasing and things began moving a bit, having more meaning. That really worked, IMO, and I was touched by the moment in that house (the recreated one in his mind, that is) where they said goodbye and that they loved each other.

The ending I am going to have to think about more. I guess I am used to the Hollywood ending, so I don't know how to react when it's a "different" ending (but not a bad one either).

I watched it with my girlfriend, so I think that made it a little better. It was good, probably even better considering the fact that she wanted to rent "Garden State" :rolleyes:

Hate to burst your bubble, but Garden State is a great movie.

I was working off the description on the back of the dvd case, something like "guy meets free spirit blah blah I will be incredibly bored watching this chick flick."
At least with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind theres Jim Carrey. So it has be somewhat interesting.

Ever watched "Scrubs"? The main character in "Garden State" may be familiar to you then ;).

Garden State is a lot like Eternal Sunshine, both are love stories, but they aren't just chick flicks, unless you are a heartless bastard that can't appreciate any kind of love story.

Garden State might have a few cringe moments if you don't buy into the sentimentality of it, but if you do get into the movie, it can be really cool and touching. It does have some funny moments, and Zach Braff almost plays a similiar guy to the one he plays on Scrubs(although a great deal more subdued). But one of the best things Garden State has going for it is a really cool rock soundtrack. Anyone who enjoyed some of the sentimentality of Eternal Sunshine should give Garden State a try.

Garden State is awesome as well, don't hate on either.
