Go Tigers Go! 2007 Season
Just a thread to get the season started.
Several new things...I am borrowing some of the face packs from Total Pro Football and Total Pro Basketball so I have images for Recruits, Scouts and Coaches. I will also be using the Helmets from TCY Helpers to show on the Weekly Box Score Screens (Thanks Mizzourah for the idea). Recruits, Scouts and Coaches will all be set inside a template, for it to be a bit easier to read and for me to enter all the information in. Is there anything else, you would like to see in the dynasty? Anything weekly? |
Final Bell Sounding?
It was a hard thing, trying to figure out how I was going to fire my defensive coordinator, he was decent, but he wasn't ramping the guys up like he should have. Well, the hassle was saved when I received the phone call. "Hey coach, it's Rob. Listen, this is going to be hard for me, because we started off well. I know that their is pressure and camps from within that want me gone. So, I am going to make it easy. I am resigning from my position as DC. Texas Tech has tossed some serious cash my way, and it saves us both the hassle." "Rob listen, I wish you the best of luck, I appreciated everything, and you were right, I was told by administration before the end of last season I had to let you go. No hard feelings?" "None at all coach, take care" And with that, my problem was taken care of. However, my other problems had just started, spread in front of me were 3 resignation letters from my scouts. 2 of them are retiring, and one of them was moving on. Then there was the request for transfer from OLB Newhart, not a major hit, but we are taking a shot there. Finally, we have the suspension of WR Freddie Porter due to academic failures. These should be easy. Interview the right people, and I will have them field. Looking at our schedule, I pick up the phone to set up a couple of games. It takes a bit, but about 5 days later I have it filled up. Looks like San Diego State and Shelbyville are on the schedule. |

I can't wait to see this incorporated into your dynasty! Great idea!! Todd |
New Defensive Coordinator
With all that was out there, I went for the best I could find. If someone else comes along that is better, trust me, I will jump on getting them. Code:

Offensively, we should be a force to reckon with, but I am concerned about the DL again. |
Week 1 Overview
We have a bye week to get everyone situated and ready to handle San Diego State. We start recruiting, and we can hope that we can do really well this season. |
Week 1 Recruiting Report
No commitments, focused on the following positions WR FB TE DT Also invites were made to QB, OT, ILB, CB as well. |
Week 2 Overview
We travel to San Diego to face the 25th ranked team in the nation. This game will be televised regionally on ESPN+ After much discussion, we went back to the Pro Set formation as it allows a few more blocking, and less of a beating on Carlos, although he will be our primary focus. Defensively, we are back into a 50 or 34 set. Week 2 Injury Report Good thing, I was thinking someone might have blown their ACL out while shopping or something this week. |
Great idea on the facebacks, hey try and get a game with BYU next Season and I will look to hook up a home and home with Memphis when I have an open slot in my BYU dynasty.

Thanks! BYU has rejected every schedule I have offered to them..I will have to do an away with them I think to get the schedule. I am hoping to get a home and away with them though. |
Good luck this season Coach!

Week 2 Box Scores

Defensively, this hurt us. We were not able to get enough pressure on the QB. This game was ours, and we proved it. It looks like we are getting better. |
Week 2 Individual Stats
Code:
Memphis Individual Statistics They slammed us pretty good on the run, but we more than made up for it in the air. We were driving for the game winning touchdown with one minute left, and threw the INT on the San Diego State 39 yard line. Hopefully things get better here on out. |

Week 3 Overview
Heading into Mississippi State as 5 point underdogs isn't to bad. What we need to do is load up the front of the line, I am thinking we might go with a 4-3 or 4-6 and see if we can stop them that way. We have to focus, I hate starting the conference in the hole. Week 3 Injuries Code:

None of the recruits we are pursuing have signed anywhere. |
Week 4 Overview
We welcome an 0-2 Shelbyville team to the Liberty Bowl. We are 7 point favorites in this game. However, I am not to happy with the way defense is playing. I will work with Scott on the defense, and we may tweak it a bit. Same with the offense, we need to look at it, see where we are being read, and modify it. Week 4 injury report Code:
Lonnie has a dinged up ribcage, which he actually sustained in practice. He will give some spot time while injured, so we will rely on some of the backups here. |

Week 4 Individual Stats
Code:
Memphis Individual Statistics We blitzed the SS Ralph a little more than normal, had him hovering up near the box, enough to confuse their QB. When he got in, he was forcing plays away in areas that were causing a lot of shots to happen. |
Week 4 Recruiting Report
Nothing yet.....stay tuned! |
Week 5 Overview
Early Morning after the game against Shelbyville I get a call. "Hey Coach, it's me Preston" rubbing the sleep from my eyes, picking the alarm clock, and tossing it back down upon realization it's 3 am. "What do you want Weber, and it better be damn good, it's 3 am." "Coach, I'm in jail" That got my attention, I was immediately awake. "Weber, what happened, tell me." "Coach, I did something stupid, and I need you to help me out." "Hang in there kid, I will help, but your parents, they will know about this as well. They will have to pay your bail, your dad, he is a hard ass, he may make you sit there." "I know coach, just help" With that, I place a few phone calls, one back to the police station to find the bail amount, the other to his parents to have them Western Union the money. When all was said and done, several hours later, I wearily walk out of the police station with Preston Weber, he was a red shirt sophmore Center. I use the term was, as I have to suspend him for the season. He was in violation of team rules by being arrested, and for the reason of the arrest. I have to stick to my guns, He said he understood, but I don't know, the kids grades are the best they have ever been, and he is cruising to be the starting center next season. Let's hope he stays around. As for this weeks game, we have 44th ranked, 2-0 Army coming into the Liberty Bowl as we are 5 point underdogs. A few tweaks again on defense and offense, and I think we can work these guys pretty good. Week 5 Injury Report Code:

Week 8 Overview
The passing game has been performing admirably, the run game is solid on occasion, I plan on using this game against an 0-6 Southern Miss to gel the offense some more. Week 8 Injury Report Teppers Hammy is still bugging him. |

Week 9 Overview
Sitting at 3-3, and travelling to Houston to take on a 2-3 Houston squad where the current line is even. Tweaking the defense, I am still wondering if the 3-4 is our true solution, It has done well so far, but I don't know if it's a solid fit for our talent. Offensively, we need to get carruth into the run game more. Week 9 Injury Report Lewis is still struggling with his hammy |
Week 9 Box Score
Code:
I think I answered my own question here, it is time to bring in 4 DL, and rely on them to stop the run. We should have won this game easily, especially with the yardage Carruth put up. |
