I'm not exactly sure as to why Eagles fans deserve this any more than other fans.

Seattle fans deserve it more....maybe the Lions too. Many teams deserve it more, that is why I wanted Philly to lose.

But congrats to them....

I think Dutch was just being congratulatory.

I think the whole "45 years since the Eagles won a championship" and "23 years since any Philly team won a championship" thing is what's being referred to.

No disrespect to Eagle fans. I was just dreaming about how nice it be to have my team in the Super Bowl.... Shit, I'll take the playoffs :)

Of course, I have to begrudgingly admit that most of the Eagles fans here at FOFC are cool and classy guys...dammit. :mad:

Well if that's the case then the Eagles would win make it to the Conference finals for eight years, make the superbowl 5 times...

That wouldn't be half bad...regardless of the Superbowl outcomes.

Just a question, but what is it that everyone (well most on this board) dislikes about the Eagles? Not sure if this question has been discussed before in another thread, but is it simply TO (which I can understand completely if he wasn't on your team you'd want him to fail, so I can't blame you there), or is it more than just him? The Fans?

Every team has bad apple fans. Yours just seem more vocal. Here are some examples off the top of my head:

You needed a jail at your new stadium.

You booed Santa Claus.

You cheered when it looked like Michael Irvin was dead or quadriplegic.

My brother in law who used to go to every Saints home game says that visting Eagles fans are the worst that he has known.

When the Saints traveled up there to play y'all in some playoff game in the Jim Mora era, y'all pelted the hell out of our fans with snowballs.

I realize that all of the above can be attributed to one subset of fans. And I know that it does not apply to the vast majority of fans or anyone on this board. And I know that a lot of them were blown out of proportion by the media. But you asked why people generally dis on the Eagles, and I think that the above is a good place to start. It's not fair to the thousands of good Eagles Fans, but there it is.

at least they don't throw rocks or batteries at people like the Raiders fans do

Part of it is the image of taking 4 trips to the conference finals to win the thing.

I don't "dislike" Philly. They are a solid organization top to bottom but you have to come up with something to polarize things. Can't have a mutual lovefest going on.

Lovely. That last big vomitous smiley in particular makes me sick to my stomach. :p

On my end it's the fact that y'all are one of our biggest rivals and have been owning the division for the past few years.

I'm sure that back in the early/mid-nineties you were rooting against the Cowboys making the Super Bowl. It's just the way rivalries work...

Or beer bottles like Cleveland...

You booed Santa Claus./that santa claus deserved to be booed (a skinny drunk santa claus deserves to be booed)

You cheered when it looked like Michael Irvin was dead or quadriplegic.(the crowd got loud when deion sanders started his dancing and laying hands on him, i was booing deion not cheering michael irvin injury)

When the Saints traveled up there to play y'all in some playoff game in the Jim Mora era, y'all pelted the hell out of our fans with snowballs./it would have been the same if its was another city that had snow on the ground, i have gotten very unpleasent reactions at RFK and Giants stadium, it is normally good natured but i have never stayed dry the whole game (ie at some point durning the game i will get hit with a beer/soda and the person who throw it security does nothing to the person and i flip them off almost got into it at RFK in the parking lot but some other fans broke it up before it came to blows)

AFAIK, there is no jail in the new stadium. The jail was in the Vet.

Most new stadiums come equipped with a police facility and lockup. There's one at Gillette Stadium.

Now to address the 'fan' situation. There have been just as many ugly incidents by other fans yet the Philly incidents just get press. Not a dam thing was mentioned about the Eagle fan who was hospitalized in Washington when he was jumped by 4 Redskin fans yet if it was reversed, it would have been mentioned by one of the ESPN idiots as some sort of proof that Philly fans are the anti-Christ.

What I still hold as proof that Philly fans can also be some of the best is the 5 minute standing ovation given to Mario on his first game back from his battle with cancer, a game that I had the honor of attending and witnessing the show of admiration. We booed the hell out of him and his team during the game but that should be expected by any visiting team anywhere.

So how come you never here about that? All you here is "Eagles fans are so bad, they need a jail in the stadium."
