Ping: DFW FOFCers, re: Romantic Dallas

So I'm trying to plan Valentines for me and the girlfriend and I've run into some trouble. I've found a nice romantic spot for dinner and I've found a nice hotel for us to stay the night at, but I'm not sure what to do between dinner and the hotel. Do any of you guys know of any nice little romantic spots or things to do in the Dallas area? Surely you married folks (Sach, thealmighty, etc) know of something.

Oh, and I've got to plan a very nice V-Day this year. Last year the girlfriend did the planning and paying and she went all out. I can't let her outdo me...

Any help is appreciated. :)

Romance and marriage don't mix, Jeebs.

Reunion Tower can be romantic, as is the Arboritum.
The Dallas Museum of Art has a romantic vibe for me, but I could name a few restrooms around town that do the same thing, so I'm probably not the best judge for that. I'm a cheap date.

There's an old drive in on 45 but it's on the other side of Dallas from where you live. It's probably about an hour from Lewisville, so I don't know if that's too far.

Here's a link to a bunch of different things to do:

hxxp://www.visitdallas-fortworth.com/attractions.html

hxxp://www.gondola.com/irving.html - you could go on a gondola ride, never been but it sounds like the kind of thing girls like.

Hope this helps.

We had dinner at the top of Reunion Tower last year, and we visit the Arboritum fairly often. In fact, I have big plans for that place come spring...

I've never actually been there, but I did check out the website earlier. Weird that we think along the same lines...

Thanks for your input, Sach. :)

The drive in might work, I need to see what's playing though. We'll be staying the night in Dallas, so it probably wouldn't be too far away...

And a gondola ride sounds like something that my girl would totally dig. Thanks, Cap. :)

Just give me your 4th round pick in the NAFL draft and we'll call it even!

JeeberD 01-24-2005 06:05 PM

Wow, after looking at the gondola site I think we have a winner. It ain't cheap, but it looks like something she would absolutely LOVE.

Fourth rounder? Heck for that suggestion I might give up my first! ;)

Cap Ologist 01-24-2005 06:19 PM

The only thing about the gondola is that its in Irving. I don't know how scenic it would be, I've never been to that part of the metroplex. I'd go there and check it out first before you buy the tickets.

Now, how do I word that on our trade forum.

The Chicago Bears trade romantic destination advice to Tennessee for their first round pick.

It's actually in Los Colinas, so it shoud be in a nice area. But checking it out before commiting would be a very good idea...

Cap Ologist 01-24-2005 07:42 PM

I just saw on the website that it listed Irving, you're right. Let me know how it is, I might take Mrs. Ologist there for our anniversary or her birthday sometime.

The river area is nice. It should be fun, but may be cold.

Just kidding about the marriage-romance thing. It just gets misplaced sometimes. :)

Its in Garrett, a very small town south of Dallas, about 30 minutes south of downtown. They have three double features every night, starting at 7:00p. The first is usually a family flick, with the second being a more adult movie. Pretty cool place, and its unusually cheap for a movie, especially the snack bar.

EDIT:

A fun place to go to anytime, though I'm not sure it would be sufficient for a special Valentine's date.

JeeberD 01-25-2005 11:03 AM

Thanks for the link! We'll definitely have to check that place out sometime...

Take her to a rodeo, partner!

JeeberD 01-25-2005 11:27 AM

I was actually quite frightened a few weeks ago when she was flipping through the channels and stopped on ESPN2 because they had rodeo on. Apparently when she was younger she had wanted to do barrel racing, but it was too expensive for her parents.
