Enigma Puzzle #31

rkmsuf 01-27-2005 12:08 PM

What is "Things you'd shove up your poop shoot"?

GoldenEagle 01-27-2005 12:09 PM

The majority of the pictures have something to do with food, either directly or indirectly. The man and the dog consume the food, the trains transport the food, etc.

After that, I have nothing.

The mood would have to be right of course.

JeeberD 01-27-2005 12:13 PM

Ty Cobb - The Georgia Peach
Catfish Hunter
Vinny "Microwave" Johnson
Dennis "Oil Can" Boyd
Ron Jaworski?
???
Jerome "The Bus" Bettis
-----------------------------------
Lenny "Nails" Dykstra
? "Toe" Nash?
???
Mark "Big Mac" McGwire
?Michael "Air" Jordan?
???
?Dick "Night Train" Lane?
------------------------------------
Don "The Bear" Haskins? (Probably not, just my bias showing)
??? - Bambi
??? - The Hammer
Walter "Sweetness" Payton
"The Fridge" Perry
?Keith "Tractor" Traylor?

WSUCougar 01-27-2005 12:15 PM

I'm thinking sports nicknames, at least initially.

A few:

"Georgia peach"
"Catfish" Hunter
"Jaws"
"Wizard of Oz"
The Bus
"Nails"
"Big Mac"
"A Train" (?)
"Bear" Bryant (?)
The Fridge

WSUCougar 01-27-2005 12:16 PM

Jeeber beat me to it.

How about "Tuna" (Parcells).

That would probably work...

Is there anyone nicknamed "Six" or "The Big Six"?

Chubby 01-27-2005 12:20 PM

Hammer - Hank Aaron?

Wouldn't "Bear" Bryant make more sense?

EDIT - Dave "the Hammer" Schultz would be an alternative to the hammer one

Yeah, probably...

Buzzbee 01-27-2005 12:31 PM

Wizzard of Oz - Ozzie Smith?

Large Six - Big Unit?

Buzzbee 01-27-2005 12:33 PM

Bambi - Bambino? Babe Ruth?

Chubby 01-27-2005 12:37 PM

Isnt the last picture Thomas the Tank or something and not a tractor?

albionmoonlight 01-27-2005 12:38 PM

I assume that we are trying to figure out what would go in the bottom right corner?

weinstein7 01-27-2005 01:13 PM

Coffee = Joe DiMaggio (Mr. Coffee) ?

Christy "Big Six" Matthewson

Is the Answer "Rhubarb"?

rkmsuf 01-27-2005 01:48 PM

I'll take "The Rapists" for 100.

QuikSand 01-27-2005 01:52 PM

The ninth one might be Lou "The Toe" Groza

Huckleberry 01-27-2005 02:02 PM

Lance Alworth was nicknamed Bambi. cuervo should be right on that one.

The picture shown is taken from a Nutrasweet ad or box, so I went with Sweetness (Walter Payton) instead...

QuikSand 01-27-2005 02:07 PM

The two "train" pics seem troubling to me. I don't mind calling one "Night train" Lane, as it is a very memorable sports nickname (even though the pic is during daytime) -- but what is the other one? Big Train Walter Johnson? (my best bet so far) The Iron Horse Lou Gehrig? Something with "eninge" or "locomotive" maybe?

(Admittedly, that second picture doesn't seem to conjure up either "Night Train" or "Big Train" to me ... more like "toy train." I got nothing.

JeeberD 01-27-2005 02:08 PM

Don't you think that the steam shovel attached to the front of the engine has to come into play somehow?

Could be. There's a face on it, too. Is this a recognizable character of some sort? I assume this is not Thomas the Tank Engine, or someone would have mentioned it.

Huckleberry 01-27-2005 02:10 PM

I don't know if that's an opening on the "lower right" at all. Seems like that just depends on your window size and resolution.

There doesn't seem to be any intentional formatting.

Dunno -- my resolution doesn't have said opening.

I'm thinking the ordering is imbedded in the file names -- click to "reply" to the original post, and you'll see file names like A-3 and C-8 and so forth. I preusme we need those as clues in the mix to resolve this.

Looks like that engine is somehow related to the Thomas the Tank Universe...

I'm trying to figure out its name...

Huckleberry 01-27-2005 02:14 PM

dola -

was already working that.

JeeberD 01-27-2005 02:15 PM

Dola-

That train's name is "Diesel," so I assume that would go with Shaq "Diesel" O'Neal...

Huckleberry 01-27-2005 02:18 PM

Diesel 10?

JeeberD 01-27-2005 02:19 PM

Already ahead of you, Huck... :)

What is

Athletes with a nickname that I could find a thumbnailed picture for.

What do I win?

QuikSand 01-27-2005 03:12 PM

No evidence that this particular set of pairings is relevant, but just in case this triggers something with someone… (I’m using given first names here, too – just in case that might be what we’re looking for)

A-8 Jim Hunter
D-8 Vinnie Johnson

From "Admiral" David Robinson
to "Wild Thing" Mitch Williams,
Nicknames are a part of sports
as much as "taters" or "slams".

You've almost finished the first part
and the second is to come.
Once you've figured out the key
the puzzle will nearly be done.

JeeberD 01-27-2005 03:22 PM

So I'm guessing that the bolded ones are wrong...

For some reason I put "Football" for Shaq when it should obviously have been basketball. Do we have any other guesses for the train and deer pics?

Edit: Wait, the enigma changed basketball to football...is there a football player nicknamed Diesel?

Pyser 01-27-2005 03:23 PM

we had babe ruth and night train lane in there. or a-train. could go back to them.

On the Bambi picute I messed up and put baseball instead of football, so the enigma fixed that. But was he also indicating that the player was wrong as well?

Is the train "The Nolan Ryan Express" since it looks like it's supposed to be a baseball player?

henry296 01-27-2005 03:32 PM

The pictures are still 7 in the first row, 7 in the second in 6 in the 3rd.

For me, in my resolution, they are 9,9, and 2. I'm not sure how much we can read into this "pattern." It's possible that the author had something in mind based on his resolution, but that seems like conjecture.

QuikSand 01-27-2005 04:16 PM

So, the first train picture might instead be Walter "Big Train" Johnson, perhaps?
