UNC - UCONN

Very good and physical game so far. UNC is up by 7 with 8 minutes left. It's on CBS in case you were wondering.

These last few minutes have done a lot to ease my mind.

a) Carolina can win a game where they don't score 90+ against a good team.

b) Carolina can beat a non-shitty team on the road.

Barring, of course, the worst collapse in recent memory.

Too bad Anderson wasn't playing but a few of the UNC players apparently are fighting off flu symptoms. Finally a road win.

Turnovers were the difference in the game, UConn only having one player (Williams who was fighting Strep Throat) that could handle the ball killed them.

All things considered (not having Anderson, and Williams fighting Strep) the game was much closer then I thought it would be last night.

Kellog really killed UConn, the kid is simply not ready for this level of basketball, and might never be. He got a lot of Anderson's minutes and hurt the team almost every time he was on the floor.

With A.J. Price suffering a Brain Hemmorage during fall practice Kellogg was been forced into the backup Point Guard role, he's not a PG (as today's performance clearly showed), but it's either him or walk-on Sami Ameziane.

You don't say.

lynchjm24 02-13-2005 04:26 PM

Calhoun had told Sami that he was on alert.

This UConn team seems to be going nowhere. You can't get that kind of guard play and expect to win against good teams. The inconsistencies from game to game from Villanueva, Boone and Brown are really starting to get to me. Villanueva might as well have stayed in bed today, he was an absolute non-factor.

Usually I embrace the UConn teams that struggle some, but this team is starting to bug me. It's the rare Connecticut team that is less then the sum of it's parts.

UNC relies too much on Felton of course but it's good to see this year that they don't need McCants to be on to win. However, it would be really, really nice if McCants could find his shot again. He's been so terrible in the last two games.

I have a bad feeling this is a UNC team that's going to choke in the sweet 16. They have enough talent to destroy anyone in the country(Illinois included IMO) on a good night. But I don't think they can win on a neutral court.

I hope something changes between now and mid-march to change things.

I'm a big Tarheel fan, but after the Duke game, this team just doesn't have that "thing" about them yet... for me. I still say they need another year.

I haven't read anything on it yet, but I can't fathom felton/may/mccants staying, and marvin williams would be drafted higher than any of them probably

Didn't know the particulars, but I was mainly talking about the coach.
