We are currently ranked #7 in the record label rankings. Sparrow has 7 bands under contract as well as a few bands who we have pending contract offers out to. Check back later for more as Sparrow Records and our bands work their way to the top!

Franklinnoble 02-25-2005 04:21 PM

I'd like for my band, the Turd Burglars, to get a contract with your label.

vex 02-25-2005 04:23 PM

Have the Turd Burglars formed yet? Because I couldn't find them.

Franklinnoble 02-25-2005 04:36 PM

I wasn't being serious... sorry... I don't have the game, and I rarely play online games...

vex 02-25-2005 04:42 PM

It's a web browser based game if you ever decide you're interested. The link is in the 1st post.

nfg22 02-26-2005 10:13 AM

I have clicked the apply to join part, is this only for Christian Music cause thats what it is now and also I will be a Christian band also, My band name is Living for the Rock

vex 02-26-2005 12:20 PM

Yeah, that's where I got Sparrow Records from:) My bands are Christian as I'm sure you can tell, but I opened up the label to all bands for now.

vex 02-26-2005 12:23 PM

My first band I got to reject:

Joy Of Masturbation

nfg22 02-26-2005 01:32 PM

Wow I just got that now with the rose in the pic, What verse is that again? I spoke about it at my dads funeral how we shouldnt worry because of how much more we mean than the sparrows yet they dont worry about food.

nfg22 02-26-2005 01:33 PM

one more thing how do I accept the contract offer? never mind I got it.

vex 02-26-2005 02:35 PM

I can't remember exactly either. It may be Matthew 10:29 or 31, but I don't think so. And I can't take credit for the wonderful photo, I googled it up.

nfg22 03-01-2005 08:20 PM

I have a question I want to release a single but money is short, how do I either get more money, or is 1 day in the studio enough to make a single?

vex 03-01-2005 11:10 PM

I don't have a way to transfer money at the moment unfortunately. And even if I could, there's only about $500 in the label account at the moment. If you only havev enough money to record for a day, I would recommend you tour for 1-3 months nonstop before you release, or you won't even cover the costs of your cd as you only get $2 for each copy sold.

DeToxRox 03-01-2005 11:15 PM

My band (Alabaster Bible Church) is currently touring and practicing their songs, waiting to fine tune them for the single.

Be advised.

nfg22 03-01-2005 11:18 PM

Aight Ill try and tour for a few more days and then release...Sparrow will be at the top one of these days.

I'll try to get a profile of all the bands under contract tomorrow.

Noted.

DeToxRox 03-02-2005 12:45 AM

haha. it's gonna get to that point

vex 03-02-2005 12:53 AM

I'll now start the band profiles:

Alabaster Bible Church

ABC is a Hardcore Punk band that hails from Boston. They are on the ground-level as far as groupies and popularity go, but the talent in ABC is something that most bands envy. They also seem to have won over the hearts and minds of many women with their looks. However, with the women that Hardcore Punk attracts, that may not be a good thing necessarily. ABC seems to be a dedicated band that has a lot of upside and Sparrow Records expects them to go gold, if not platinum in the future.

vex 03-02-2005 01:09 AM

We had 1 release a month ago, two this month, and one next month:

Best Selling Albums Last Month
BandTypeRelease Name Release Date Sales Last Month
Casting Crowns Single Who Am I 2005-11-01 7,000
The PinkZappa's Single Flowers Of Gain 2005-11-01 4,000
Bandacoot Single Genocide 2005-10-01 1,250
Kleft Single Opening Act 0

Our funds now appear as:

Update General Label Information
Record Label Name:Sparrow Records
Funds:Free to spend: $1,498

Tied up in record contracts: $780

vex 03-02-2005 01:12 AM

Also, the 38 Critic Rating is the 3rd highest given in MM so far. But of course, Sparrow lost ground in the label ratings(however they work).

Stop, you're making us blush!

And to note: ABC does tour relentlessly, and every show garuntees some blood loss.

We added another FOFCer who seems to be doing very good. Intoducing.....

Short One Crouton quickly sold out a second pressing of their independently released "Get 'Er Done" single and is now spending time practicing for it's upcoming Sparrow Records released which has yet to be named.

nfg22 03-02-2005 11:49 AM

Lenaing on the rock will be releasing in a few months we will probably have 4 songs so we may release 2 different singles and we would like to do so with both under th sparrow label as we see them having alot of upside and like the community in genral. Two months ago we spent the whole month practicing alone, at our homes.( I accidentally had them rest 30 days with it set on practice at home). I feel this practice has made us the most talented band in the nation even though we are bored and looking for aliitle more joy in our work.

vex 03-02-2005 11:53 AM

Band Profile:

Bandacoot
Bandacoot is a Hard Rock band from Memphis, TN. They have already released a single entitled, "Genocide". Genocide has sold a humble 1,250 copies so far, but it's a good start regardless. They are currently ranked 12th in both popularity and number of groupies in the Hard Rock ccategory. One thing that Bandacoot needs is a little happiness. There have been reports that if things don't straighten up, guitarist Emmett Varela might leave the band.

nfg22 03-02-2005 11:53 AM

Ya like that? it was an accident but maybe we can profit from it. Also on another note I have been getting only 15 dollars a show, and maybe I will be able to increase that but I dunno why Im not getting more. on the upside Ill be touring 28 days this month and that should bring in some more money.

If you tour long enough, you'll start to really roll in the dough. For instance, I have a few bands who get $10,000+ a show now.

nfg22 03-02-2005 12:02 PM

Wow...then I could actually release CD...how is relient k doing? Casting Crowns is also awesome I se ethat you released a CD with them now huh?

vex 03-02-2005 12:59 PM

Relient K seems like they have the most potential of all my bands. With Casting Crowns, I sold out of the initial 7000 copies, so I went and ordered 50,000 more. No telling how many actually sell.

DanGarion 03-02-2005 01:14 PM

I'd like to figure out how to increase a band members popularity, because my popularity is 0. :(

I got the looks but I'm not popular!

vex 03-02-2005 01:23 PM

You need to do some touring to get popularity up. 28 day touring is best. Or when you rest, try Hanging with groupies or seeing friends bands play.

vex 03-02-2005 02:26 PM

Spotlighted Genre: Soft Rock
Soft Rock emerged in the early '70s, partially as a reaction to the extreme sounds of the late '60s. Soft rock was commercial and inoffensive, taking the sound of singer/songwriter and pop/rock but smoothing out all the edges. Bands like Bread, the Carpenters, and Chicago relied on simple, melodic songs with big, lush productions. Throughout the '70s, soft rock dominated the airwaves and it eventually metamorphosed into the synthesized sounds of adult contemporary in the '80s.
In the Music Maven community, Casting Crowns is commonly regarded as one of the top Soft Rock bands.

woot!

nfg22 03-02-2005 02:48 PM

Nice I think once we get some more releases this can really be on of the best labels...

I've tried all that. I guess I will keep trying, we just did a 28 day tour made some major cash and are doing some intensive practicing so we can get some better songs going.

Franklinnoble 03-02-2005 04:01 PM

Just created a band.

Turd Burglars.

Techno, baby.

Franklinnoble 03-02-2005 05:25 PM

Dola...

My character is a woman. Amusing, but not something I want to live with. Can this be changed?

I guess if you try auditioning you can change it. But there's no easy way to change it. I believe it's a bug. Offer sent your way.

Franklinnoble 03-02-2005 06:24 PM

I accepted the offer.

If I audition a new guy, won't that erase me? I don't get it.

tucker342 03-02-2005 06:50 PM

go me!

I think I may have released my single too early... but we'll see.

Franklinnoble 03-02-2005 07:15 PM

My band has pictures now. Until I get my gender changed, I've used a photo of a woman.

sterlingice 03-02-2005 09:04 PM

Cool, vex. Didn't know you were making a dynasty on this. :)
