OT - What fictional characters remind you of forum members?

After starting this thread, I will promptly crawl under my lurkers rock.

There has been something troubling me for a while now. When two fictional characters appear on TV, they remind me of Skydog. I cannot explain why, but for what ever reason, I imagine that is a lot like Skydog. I've never met the man, nor have I participated in a thread with him.

In any case, these are the two:

Frylock from Aqua Teen Hunger Force

That black guy wearing the cowboy duds at the end of that new creepy and disturbing Burger King commercial.

Has anybody ever experienced a similar situation?

Franklinnoble 03-02-2005 07:11 PM

Eli Manning reminds me of Shorty.

MikeVic 03-02-2005 08:13 PM

I second the Frylock!!! Wow. That's scary.

gottimd 03-02-2005 08:17 PM

I Third the Frylock!!! Good Lord. That is creepy.

cuervo72 03-02-2005 09:02 PM

LOL...Frylock. You know, I guess I can see that now that you mention it.

Could Bucc pass for Dana Carvey's grumpy old man? Hmm......

Draft Dodger 03-02-2005 09:05 PM

Quiksand = Winston Churchill

wait, Churchill isn't fictional. nevermind.

When I was a kid, we didn't have any of em fancy rollie coasters. Oh no, we would fall off a cliff, and we would break all our bones. Did we wine? Oh no, because that was the way it was, and we liked it!

Suicane75 03-02-2005 10:04 PM

Farrah reminds me of Strawberry Shortcake.
Pumpy reminds me of David Allen Grier.
Cringer reminds me of Crazy Cabbie from the Stern Show.

Swaggs 03-02-2005 10:12 PM

Ish, the lead character in the book "Earth Abides," (I know Sachmo read this one, too) reminded me a lot of Bucc.

flere-imsaho 03-03-2005 08:22 AM

Ish is an everyman. He's supposed to remind you of anyone. :p

Noop 03-03-2005 08:52 AM

Fritz looks like Suicane.

SkyDog = Frylock (good call)
QuikSand = Mr. Peabody (Rocky & Bullwinkle)
Kodos = Kodos
Hell Atlantic = Dr. Claw (Inspector Gadget)

Critch 03-03-2005 09:28 AM

Quiksand = HAL from 2001:Space Odyssey

Actually you are the first person to say that. The usual is Pippi Longstocking, which is worse I guess than Strawberry Shortcake.

I was hoping more for Jessica Rabbit, but hey, what can a girl do?

Is this any reflection on your husband?

Good one, Urkel...

Vince 03-03-2005 10:47 AM

I also think of SkyDog every time I see Frylock. Strange.

revrew 03-03-2005 12:41 PM

Can't recall his name, but the character played by Steve Martin in "Cheaper by the Dozen." That's me.

Oh, and the character played by Martin in "Father of the Bride," and, "Parenthood," that's me, too. I cannot, however, f'in claim that that f'in character played by that f'in f***, Martin, in "F'n Planes, F'n Trains, and F'indy F'in F'n Automobiles" is anything like me.

To be perfectly honest, though, have you ever watched a movie and got seriously creeped out, thinking they were showing your life story on the big screen? That happened to me watching Johnny Depp in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape." There were so many ways that was like my childhood in a nutshell...except I didn't have a sister.

It seems like people relate to the Frylock reference, but what about the Burger King guy? That commercial for the Tender Chicken Cheddar Bacon Ranch sandwich was on during the Duke/North Carolina game. Does anybody know what I'm talking about? Anyhow, that is one creepy commercial.

I think at this point of his "career" Hootie is pretty much "just a guy."

David LaChappelle directed it. Great/creepy photographer who does music videos, too. so it was probably in hootie's best interest to do that commercial, whether he needs the money or not.

plus, we are all talking about it, arent we?

CHEMICAL SOLDIER 03-07-2005 12:19 PM

I'll be the guy in the background nobody pays much attention to.

He's gone so far back, he's doing commercials now that he wouldn't have done even before Hootie became Dan Marino's favorite band.

I was wondering if that was Hootie...
