The landscape is changing as City of Villains is on the horizon and PvP (player vs. player) is on the test server and soon to be delivered unto the masses.

A new era is dawning as only a few of us remain. Our own fellowship is crumbling at the very foundation. What will be in store for our heroes?

condors 04-06-2005 04:47 PM

Kieran and Gwain (me) cancelled his account as being a tanker = slow exp wait around for a group, simply put i wasn't around same time as the other fofcers so the monthly fee wasn't worth it to me. I really wish i worked a later shift sometimes.

Whar 04-06-2005 04:55 PM

I play alot on the Test server. What is the FOF server of choice?

Bad-example 04-06-2005 05:15 PM

Out of the dozens of names I have used in online games over the last few years, Professor Ion was my favorite.

Bonegavel and I are on Victory. I have:

Silver Streak, Level 50 Electric/Electric Blaster
Sweet Bubbles, Level 38 Force Field/Energy Defender
White Napalm, Level 17 Fire/Fire Tank
Sweet Sugar, Level 12 Peacebringer

Just add us to your friends. From what I read on the official forums, they may allow the Character Copy Tool to copy characters from more than your server to the test server. Don't know if that will be in Issue 4 or not.

Thomkal 04-06-2005 09:16 PM

I (Cometflash) am back on COH for the time being after long flirtations with EQ2 and WOW. (still playing WOW) Still having the same damn frequent mapserver problems that drove me away from the game in the first place in frustration though so I'm not of much use to anyone. Blue Boltman and Plinth are mine as well.

I'm definitely hanging around until City of Villians, just may not be logging in on a consistent basis until then. The good news is that Cometflash doesn't have to go through &*(!^&^% Terra Volta now to get a respec as he still has the "freebie" they apparantly gave out after I left. (How do I go about getting that?)

Pumpy Tudors 04-06-2005 09:59 PM

Carl Bistro is retired, I guess. I don't really have any urge to renew my subscription. I liked the concept of the game, but it just never fully clicked with me. I do wish all of the remaining players the best of luck, however!

Qwikshot 04-06-2005 10:59 PM

Green Drake, and Hangfire have gone to the Comic Book in the Sky...maybe come back for CoV, but WoW did not garner my affection at all.

MrBug708 04-06-2005 11:35 PM

Senor Bug is still around just never online...

Fritz 04-07-2005 05:50 AM

heh, key west mike

gi 04-07-2005 08:52 AM

MxO is extremely frustrating. Interface is very cumbersome. I am thinking about a return appearance when CoV comes out. WoW doesn't really interest me. CoH is still the best MMORG in my opinion.

JeeberD 04-07-2005 10:06 AM

I cancelled my account because I couldn't justify the $15/month when I was only finding time to play once or twice a month.

If I find that my evenings open back up I would like to re-join, but for not that just ain't possible...

Doug5984 04-07-2005 10:12 AM

Same with me- its hard to pay $15 when I was only able to play a few times a month...I am really looking forward to City Of Villians. Does anyone have any idea of when that will be coming out?

Raiders Army 04-07-2005 10:14 AM

FWIW, I had trouble with my internet connection last night and it's still out. Unfortunately, I can't play at work, so I'm going to have to fix it hopefully at lunch.

Also, you cannot cancel your account online for MxO. You must call a 1-800 number. I find it funny since they are violating their own EULA.

Bonegavel 04-07-2005 10:06 PM

Cannot get into MxO. Good to hear about the 800 number. I'm canceling soon as i stop being lazy about it.

After playing CoH for a year, the way MxO functions isn't up to my MMO standards. City has raised the bar for me as far as character movement/controls and shit like that.

Sorry to hear about your online troubles RA. I figured something was up when you didn't show back up last night. You were my Mentor and I was wondering why i was only doing 5 damage. :)

700k away from 47 with Albino Claw. After 50, i'm spending time with my tank and controller. They are nerfing the be-fucking-jesus out of regen this next issue and I will probably shelf the Claw at 50.

Is Don still around?!? Hoopsguy!? Miss ya big man.

Bonegavel 04-07-2005 10:11 PM

dola, funny that all our folks that were GMs have quit. Only me and Raiders Army remain.

in c++ it would be:

if((SuperGroup.FOFC->member == 1) && (SuperGroup.StreetSweeper->GM == 1)){
COH.game->quit = 1;
}

hoopsguy 04-07-2005 10:38 PM

Still around, hoping to free some hours up now that the NCAA tournament is over. Work continues to be really, really busy and every non-work hour was devoted to following the Illini over the last three weeks. I'll show up one of these night; have not cancelled the account.

gi 04-08-2005 05:55 AM

I'll make an appearance again as well. Probably will pick up CoV.

Raiders Army 04-08-2005 07:37 AM

I thought you cancelled your account?

If everyone would gravitate back to CoH that would be grande!!!

I am not overly fond of the "other" folks in the "new" Super Group (with the exception of Penolope and maybe Gamma Rae).

RA and I are thinking about splitting off and only having the 2 of us as GMs since we are pretty determined to stay for the long haul. Having a person of GM status quiting without exiting the SuperGroup is a quick way to clog the SG list without recourse.

gi 04-08-2005 09:42 AM

I've always loved Penolope. I count her as one of my friends from that game. She will do anything for you if you ask her.

HomerJSimpson 04-08-2005 09:50 AM

Can you solo in the higher levels? I played for a while, but I hate grouping. Occasionally it can be fun, but I mostly like playing when I have the time. I don't like feeling that I'm "falling behind" or dependent on other people to play.

It's not the same without the old gang.

Even if you just logged in for a minute to get rid of the "568 days since last logged on" status. :)

Seriously though, between your Ilinniniiilini in the title hunt, work, home life, and just general boredom with the game I figured you had packed it in. Good to see there may still be hope left for Don to once again cast his 3rd eye gaze upon Paragon City.

I'll echo those sentiments, and to your question, yes, it is very soloable in the higher levels. At levels 45-49, I played for about an hour each morning in PI and gained a bub per hour. In the evenings it was different because hunting wasn't as good, but that's when I looked for a team.

For me, I hate soloing in the later stages of the game, but it is VERY do-able. Of course, different builds will solo differently.

High Level Fire-tanks are MACHINES! for leveling. Other Tankers level like Turtles Fucking regardless of level.
High Level Controllers with Pets are MACHINES!
High Level Blasters (electricity, fire especially) are MACHINES! but be prepared to die a lot as you are very fragile until very late game. Silver Streak (elec/elec) can wrack up impressive numbers when solo.
High Level Scrappers (DM, SPINES especially) are Very Hardy but lack of AoE (except Spines) can make the going slower than the AoE blasters, but you die less.

If you don't like grouping you most likely aren't a Defender and they are very reliant on teaming even though they can still solo their share.

I'd say a lot of it can also be related to experience because I used to think lower levels were so hard but going back to my lower level characters it seems easier because i have a more intimate knowledge of the game.

Sounds good. Might reload it and give it another whirl.

Raiders Army 04-08-2005 10:16 AM

If you do, go on Victory...we have an assortment of levels and archetypes to play with.

HomerJSimpson 04-08-2005 12:16 PM

Well, I've made a ice blaster named The Cold-One on Victory. I'll be around.

Started a 2 box combo on Victory

Pain Cry - Dark melee/ Invul Scrapper
Mind Cry - Dark Miasma/ Dark Defender

My brother started a Spines Regen Scrapper ... name unknown right now

Will try to keep an eye open for other folks online. :)

Bad-example 04-09-2005 12:03 AM

I am looking at the official boards to try and rekindle my interest. Has the game changed a lot in the last 8 months or so? How is the customer service? I think I had a DM/Inv and a Katana/Regen scrapper...are those still considered solid choices?

Qwikshot 04-09-2005 12:13 AM

I'm going to wait until CoV, I'll be the bad guy so you can all kick my ass...

Raiders Army 04-09-2005 05:44 AM

Added Pain Cry and Mind Cry to my friends list. You can add us to your friends lists by typing

/friend

When you bring up your friends, you can see if we're online or not.

Also, a DM/Inv and Katana/Regen scrappers are good choices. :)

HomerJ, The Cold-One doesn't exist? Are you on Victory?

JeeberD 04-09-2005 09:44 AM

I really can't remember what server I had HomerJ on...

He's on Victory...actually, he's still a member of the "old" SG.

Bonegavel 04-12-2005 03:21 PM

I'll probably ding 48 tonight. Can't wait until I can shelve my scrapper and get my fire tank up in levels. They look like FUN!

Bad-example 04-12-2005 04:09 PM

I reinstated my account and will be messing about trying to relearn how to play.

Raiders Army 04-12-2005 04:10 PM

I shall be on as well!

condors 04-14-2005 01:13 PM

reinstated my account

since people seem to be on victory server, i had a blaster littlewatt

gi 04-14-2005 01:33 PM

I'm moving this weekend so look for Aucoin to be back soon, probably next week.

Bad-example 04-14-2005 02:13 PM

Professor Ion is my dm/inv scrapper, level 15.

Charbroiler is a fire/fire tanker, level 14.

Both are still members of the Front Office Freedom Corps.

Been screwing around, trying to get reacquainted with the way things work.

hoopsguy 04-14-2005 02:43 PM

I've been spending a fair amount of time over the last week with my scrapper, ThePanther. He is now Level 13 (come on, travel power!) Martial Arts/Reflexes.

I've gotten to play a bit with Pain Cry. I'll try and look up some of the other new alts over the next week.

Raiders Army 04-14-2005 03:11 PM

Fire/Fire is a powerleveling machine if you can work it. I was moving right along with White Napalm, but the biggest jumps in xp gains were at level 18 (got burn) and 22 (SOs). That's so far. Right now, I can stand in the middle of 6 same level guys and just burn them. They do little damage to me and burn doesn't require much end. I should get 24 tonight, but Survivor and the Apprentice are on.

Whar 04-14-2005 05:03 PM

Been a tough week at work. Pain Cry and Mind Cry will not be able to arrest evil-doers till friday.
