Complete Uncut Video of Five Year Old Being Handcuffed
hxxp://www.sptimesphotos.com/video/office.html
You will need the free Flash 7 Player from Macromedia to play the video. I tell you what, the girls parents should be arrested for bringing their child up like this. |
these people dont have a prayer in the world to win this lawsuit, since when is restraint illegal?
|
The fucking kid is a brat. If she had tried to destroy my office/property like that (damn, look at the floor after the kid trashed the office!) I'd have tied the little fucker to the chair.
|
Handcuffing was too good for the kid.
|
And right after Handcuffing her, I hope they hancuffed her parents.

This isnt necessarilly reflective of her parents. My mother is a speach pathologist in schools and she has told me many stories of children with serious behavioral problems that have tried to attack her. A behavioral problem at age 5 is not something you just pin on the parents automatically. Some children have serious issues.
|
sounded to me like the police knew this girl, and this wasnt the first incident. I think the frame of reference the video sets, is to narrow in this instance to know if it was appropriate to handcuff this child
|
I think handcuffing a 5 year old child is a bit much, but ill agree that not knowing her history I cant make a judgement on that.

True, but the fact the police are there before the parent(s), know the girl, and basically says they told her mom they would handcuff her "next time," suggest the parent(s) have some involvement in the problem. |
That also suggests the school may have some involvement as well. Children at age 5 with those types of problems should be in an alternate environment or undergo some type of counseling.

The sad thing is they don't generally have the money for the type of help she may need, and they aren't allowed to do things like physically restrain her, which is what was needed in this situation. Hence the police and the handcuffs. |
Wow, that was rather disturbing. All I could think was, "How does a kid behave like this?" I wonder how her home like is?
Todd |
Want to know why they act like that? Because parents are afraid to beat their children. If I did something like that my mom would beat me like I stole her money...
|
Even if we consider the kid an "innocent" because of his age, "innocents" are restrained in our society all the time (see those with mental illnesses that need to be restrained), as long as he wasn't really hurt and it was necessary, age doesn't make a bit of difference.
|
Ok handcuffing a 5 year old is a bit much they did not have to do that. News reports are saying the mother was on her way so they could have just waited for the parent. That child posed no serious threat to anyone in the room.
|
I bet the kid will behave better now...
|
Yep, I say the parents need to be held responsible. No kid should ever get that far with such a complete lack of respect for authority. And that is clearly what that is. It is not a rebellion against something she believes is unfair, it is complete lack of respect for anything.
You notice that nothing at all got to her until they took that step. Finally she incurred some consequence for her actions. That is what she needs to learn, consequences. I don't feel the least bit sorry for the girl or her parents. It is the school authorities that have been "handcuffed" for years in not being allowed to handle these cases in an appropriate manner. |
handcuffs? they shouldve used the lethal injection.

Sarcasm? just checking.... Todd |
I'm glad this tape is available...it shows how screwed up our schools have become. That teacher was being fricking hit by a student and she couldnt do anything. Where was the principle? Isn't their spankings anymore? There was at my school (Im only 22) and that would have sure the hell calmed her ass down. Its fricking ridiculous that we live a society where this is acceptable. What if that student was 12 and hitting the teacher. Then what? Would she have still had to stand their like a wimp and say, "that is not acceptable."
If it WAS a 12 year old hitting me and I was a teacher I would spank the shit out of him. Since she was 5 I would have just held her so she could move until the mom came. If thats not acceptable then that it fricking ridiculous. |

That's the wonder of video. If it wouldn't have been taped.. I think that assisstant principle would have been a little more animated. Todd |

Not a hint... |
Oh please if the child was 12 then he or she would have posed more of a threat. A 5 year old girl waving her weak fists at a teacher is not something you put the child in handcuffs for. Leave her in the room with the police or whatever until her mother arrives bottom line.
|
Am I the only one thinking about the "How many five year olds could you take?" thread right now?
|
Looks to me like the girl was scared to death just by seeing the cops. Not sure the handcuffs were really needed. But i'm not outraged.

So your solution for dealing with a child who has violence issues is to teach her that violence is ok so long as you're bigger and stronger than the person you're hitting? Yeah, that's bright. |
Noop is a child. :p
Todd |
So, how many five year olds acting like _that_ could you guys take on? :D
|
Quote:
I bet the way the police get off the hook is by saying the girl was a danger to herself |
Quote:
Its not about being the bigger stronger person... if you think talking to kids will correct the problem then fine believe what you wish. I am sure your one of those parents who sits there and lets their kid scream and basically act a fool for some toy in K-Mart or something. If you a disrespectful child then that is your business but if your kid is getting out of line with people other then you and your spouse then its a problem. |
This is gonna get ugly. quick.
|
The part I am most bothered with is that the principal (or was it a teacher?) couldn't do a damn thing about it. All she could do was put her arms out and try to block the girl and pull her down from the table. I know it has been suggested that if the camera were not rolling she would have done more but I'm not so sure. I mean if I were in her position I would probably do the same. You know you just want to sit that girl down in the chair and hold her there till she calms down but you get afraid that you are too tough with her you're going to get sued and fired. Its a shame really.

You tell a child "don't hit" and then you hit her. What do you think you're really accomplishing there? |

.... you have got to be a woman. LOL |

I've been laughing for like 45 seconds at this. ![]() |

In the school I attended they still have paddling. They paddle likes its nothing too.
Guess what the bigges behavior problem they have is? Tardies. I do not think that is a coincidence. By the way, they give you a paddling for every three tardies. Go figure. |

What? |

I feel really bad, but when I first read this I thought you were talking about metally handicapped people with the word "tardies". Maybe its time for bed. |
Quote:
Bullseye! I think that principal exhibited tremendous patience. I'd agree with Blackadar in that they should have tied her to the chair. |
I've been a substitute teacher in kindergarten classes, so I kind of know what five year olds are like when they're misbehaving. And watching at that tape, it looks to me like that girl has problems that are a lot deeper than a lack of discipline.
|
Thank you.

This is exactly what I was trying to express. She couldnt do anything else becuase of this, "im too scared about a lawsuit mentality." It's so much bs. |
Quote:
You are an awesome example of what repeated beatings do to a person. |
Wow, they wouldn't have had to have handcuffed that kid.
I'd have had that brat tied to a chair by her hair. No way I would have put up with that, camera or not. |
Spanking is a viable form of punishment. I don't use it to punish initial bad behavior my child displays, but I think it is ok to break it out when the child is disobeying the orders of their parents. It is like the second line of punishment. I do think that a kid could go a lifetime without needing a spanking and that is fine too.

My kids still get spankings if they put themselves in immediate danger (reaching for a hot stove, running out in the middle of the street, etc..) and I occasionally lose my temper and smack them on the butt in anger. In all honesty, however, my kids respond much better to time outs. Spankings kind of hurt, but they are over in a millisecond and forgotten 2 minutes later. Timeouts affect their "flow". There is a designated place where they have to sit and they are ignored for the time they sit there. Then when their time is up, I look them straight in the eye and tell them in no uncertain terms what they did was wrong. No sugar coating. No "I love you, but...". Just stern instruction. The worst brats I ever seen are the ones whose parents are too lazy to do anything other than lash out at them violently. |
