Do you go to jail, or give up your tickets?

A judge ordered an Appleton woman convicted of theft to decide whether to spend 90 days in jail or donate her family’s Packers tickets next season to charity.

Sharon Rosenthal, 59, of Appleton, was sentenced last week in Winnebago County Circuit Court.

The criminal complaint states that Rosenthal had taken money totaling more than $3,000 from labor union accounts before leaving the organization’s membership. The check transactions were later discovered.

She withdrew money from the union in order to help pay household bills, the complaint says.

While Rosenthal told police financial hardship was an issue, she and her husband managed to maintain the cost of four tickets to the Packers’ three-game Gold season-ticket package. Rosenthal argued that the tickets were her husband’s rather than hers. Judge Scott Woldt nonetheless offered her the choice to either serve the jail time or donate the 12 tickets for the upcoming season to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

With the cheapest seats in Lambeau Field costing $54 apiece, the season package is worth at least $648. The jail time — or the ticket donation — will occur as part of a two-year period of probation.

Haha, hard choice.

I saw this too - nice to see some creative sentencing!

If it's just for this season I'd say donate them to charity. Or at least schedule the 90 days around the Packers home games.

Give up the tickets, easy.

One night in jail was horrible. I couldn't imagine 90 days...

Yup. Besides, since it is a charitable donation she can probably use it as a tax write off.

Green Bay won't be so good this year. Give up the tix.

That was my thought.

Hell, they should make her sit in the Green Room with Aaron Rodgers for 5 hours with the camera focusing on them every fifteen minutes. That'll show her.

If I'm the woman, I give up the tickets. If I'm her husband, I say she does the jail time. :D

Don't you mean EX-husband?

"Baby, I'm so happy that you don't have to do no time. I mean, those tickets I bought for my whole family don't mean nearly as much as having the opportunity to have you here with me. I mean, if you went to jail, I don't know what I'd do. I mean, other than go with my family to Packer games in Brett Favre's last season. Baby, I'm so happy that I could just bust your lip!"

Sheesh, if I was going to be a thief, there are three spots I would try and steer clear of: Casinos, the mob and laber unions. Maybe she better head to the clink for 90 days just for protection ;)
