Build of my computer
So everything seemed to be fine, but when I decided to plug some old computer speakers in it went kaplooey. Wont boot up at all. Power to it but no boot up. BUTTTTT At the time I didnt know what had caused it, so when I hooked up the old computer and plugged in everything (including the speakers) it too now wont boot up. Any ideas? Im sure a power surge of some sort but what to do now? My friend is taking it to some mom and pop to see what all damage the power surge might've caused. Luckily in the time frame we are in, I can still return the goods for replacements....but any knowledge you'd like to impart? Where the surge most likely is to go? What is the cause? What to avoid? How to know earlier? etc.
Thanks in advance. |
I have no idea, but why did you title this thread 'build of my computer'?

i dunno |
So is this the computer that your friend built for you?
|
well its both, Im hitting them with power surges. the old one AND the new one
update: I went home and plugged the old one directly into the wall as opposed to the surge protector and it booted up. So what does that mean? Into surge protector = no boot. Directly into wall = boot. AND back into surge protector after the direct to wall and it boots too. This is all the old computer NOT the new one we just uilt although its being effected by the same power type issues as addressed in the first post. |

Yep. |
the old Computer is Medusa, the new computer is Cruella, and the laptop is Eva.

turns out it was the power to that wall of the house. I went and flipped the circuit breaker in the garage and walah!! but how does that effect computers, for Cruella's sake. would it surge the Power supply, fry the mother board? any ideas?

Get an extension cord and plug your computer into it along with a lot of Christmas tree lights. At least it'll look pretty.
