Not a Smart Play

I think this guy might get chewed out by the coach. Score was Miami 14, Pittsburgh 10 at this point.

Offense: Punt Formation.

MIA 19 Foster punted 29 yards from the MIA29.

PIT 89 Hanson called for a fair catch at the PIT42.

End of 4th Quarter

Maybe he was going for the "Fair Catch Interference" call, and didn't get it. Remember, the game cannot end on a defensive penalty.

Just imagine how far out of joint Cowher's jaw would have gotten while chewing that guy out...

Typical Steelers.

Sounds like the time Barry Foster played a kickoff return like it was a punt and just let the ball bounce around in the end zone until the coverage team picked it up for a TD.

you can also take a free kick from a fair catch (not sure if it's just a kickoff or if punts count too) even if there is no time left on the clock.

Yes, though unless your kicker can hit a 68 yard free kick and you are playing with NFL Europe rules it doesn't do you much good.

At least Miami handled the situation better than the Bengals.

Against the 49ers in a close game, if I remember correctly.

It was the 49ers, but some reason I seem to recall it was the opening kickoff.

Can't get much closer than 0-0.

cartman 07-14-2005 09:25 AM

And, I think it was the first game of the regular season as well.
