Tequilla followed by beer

Is it is beer before liquor, never been sicker or the other waqy around?

Raven 08-06-2005 12:28 AM

liquor before beer, in the clear.
beer before liquor, get sicker.

GoldenEagle 08-06-2005 12:30 AM

Go0od I am in the clear. Thanks gfor the clarification.

GoldenEagle 08-06-2005 12:43 AM

Raven your just a rokie. You have been around forwwver.

Raven 08-06-2005 12:50 AM

Yeah, I'm a long time reader, but never posted much. Funny thing is, I'd probably have 130-150 or so less posts if it wasn't for my (now defunct) FM dynasty.

GoldenEagle 08-06-2005 12:51 AM

Which one was that?

Raven 08-06-2005 12:58 AM

It's here . I don't think I've posted in it since September or so? I had never played the game before, other than an older demo for a few days.

Had a few very good seasons in the lower level of England. Made the semi-finals and finals, but lost. Really wanted to get promoted and stay with the same team the whole time, trying to work them up the ranks. Eventually moved on to another team just to try out some of the features I was missing out on at the llower levels, but then realized that I didn't have the attachment to the new team. Got busy with real life stuff, so kinda forget about it for quite a while.

That rule proved true last weekend...and believe me, I wasn't in the clear.

Busted myth by Mythbusters. Not that it will make any difference here.

JeeberD 08-06-2005 09:19 AM

I usually mix my tequila and beer consumption...take a shot of Cuervo and chase it with a nice cold Shiner. And unless I totally overindulge I have no problems...

I agree with this. Many times I mix up the order. It just matters how much you drink. On a side note, on my honeymoon, we took a tequila class, and learned all about tequila. In a nutshell, there are 3 types. Blanco, which is most common at bars, is taken right from the blue agave plant, and put in the bottle basically, is the harshest shot. Then you have a "resposado" type which is kept for 1+ yrs before being bottled which isn't as strong, and a little darker in color. Not as harsh as Blanco tequila. Then you have the best kind of tequila called anejo. It is kept for 5+ years and then bottled. This is what they call "sipping tequila" and can be very expensive. it is real smooth and not harsh at all. The price difference is a bit much, since we had a shot of anejo and we were told that it was $85/shot and in the thousands for a bottle.

Probably the reason it's beer before liquor, never been sicker is that if you drink a lot of beer, then you start being able to pound drinks, seemingly without any backlash. Well, if you start drinking shots, you're going to be able to pound them. So, then, when the too much hard liquor you drank kicks in, you get really sick. If you drink liquor than beer...the volume of the beer can do a decent enough job of slowing you down to not get sick more often.

I usually only have problems when I go beer/liquor/beer/liquor/etc. That should be avoided.

Hmm, don't remember them testing this myth. Then again I haven't seen every episode especially ones from the first season (Why does Discovery choose not to replay eps from the 1st season? There's only so many times one can watch the Ming Dynasty Astronaut).

JeeberD 08-06-2005 11:22 AM

Last night I went liquor-->wine-->beer but had no issues... :)

PilotMan 08-06-2005 11:22 AM

You know. I thought that I saw it there, but going back over the episodes I can't find it so it must have been somewhere else. I know the science is correct though. And I think that sooner is right about the reason behind the theory.

I think I would have fallen asleep after the wine.

MrBug708 08-06-2005 11:37 AM

1. Why would you drink Tequila?
2. Why would you drink Cuervo?

Because it's cheap but not too cheap...

I never get a hangover anymore. I just make sure to drink plenty of water when I get home and that does the trick. Also take a multivitamin. I dont know if this is true or not, but Ive always felt the hangover was caused by dehydration, and lack of vitamins.

I'll just stick to my beer, thank you.

JeeberD 08-06-2005 03:57 PM

I used to think like that too, Shortstuff. You'll grow to appreciate wine in due time...

3ric 08-06-2005 04:03 PM

The myth when I was 16 was that you couldn't mix wine and beer on the same night.

I'm sure I will, I'm just giving you a hard time. My dad drinks wine along with beer, so I guess it's just a normal transition (wait for it..) for old people.

JeeberD 08-06-2005 04:08 PM

Fucking whipersnapper...

:D

Threads like these aren't making it any easier for me to stay off the booze. :(
