Fab Five 2006-07
Last year, 5 Freshman turned Central Florida from a below average basketball school into one of the best teams in the country. Although they were stopped short by Texas in the Regional Finals, their memorable run changed the landscape of college basketball. Remarkably, all 5 players have decided to pass up the NBA and stay at Central Florida for their Sophomore season.
And here they are, The Central Florida Fab Five!!!! |

It's training time again, guys. PLease remember that we lost our top three backups so stamina training would be a very good idea. It would also help us to stop fouling out.

Central Florida Player Offense Attributes |
I tried to come up with a tough schedule to make things more interesting. You guys think this is tough enough?
Code:
Central Florida 2006 Season Schedule |
Despite our suspect bench, we are once again ranked #1 to start the season.
Code:
Top 25 Poll |
Central Florida at Duke
A dominating first half, thanks mostly to our stunning shooting accuracy, gave us a 51-31 lead at halftime. However, foul trouble really hurts us, as only one of our starters was able to play for more than 24 minutes. Duke took advantage and outscored us 70-41 in the 2nd half for a 101-94 victory. Duke made 26 free throws to our 11 (out of 23, ouch), and that made the difference in the game. Code:
Duke 101, Central Florida 94 |
Code:
Top 25 games this season (Preseason rankings):And there you have it, already 0-1 to start the year. |
Oregon at Florida
We shake off the Duke loss by thoroughly embarassing Oregon. It was 52-24 at the half and then we coasted for an easy victory. Still not happy with the foul problems for Provost and Bright. Code:
Central Florida 82, Oregon 50 |
Despite the loss, against Duke, we hang out to our #1 ranking. Latest Poll:

How ironic is it that I was the only starter to last more than 24 minutes in our loss against Duke? Me, Mr. Foul Trouble himself. :D
|
Central Florida at Samford
I'd like us to be able to make it through one game without foul problems. This time, both Provost and Moungey fouled out, preventing us from putting Samford away. Thankfully Bright saved us with a huge game. Code:
Central Florida 76, Samford 67 |
Florida International at Central Florida
It's about time. Everyone got 29 minutes or more in this one and Bright had another huge game. One area of concern so far is Provost's turnovers. He turned it over 3 in this game, and his ratio has dropped to 3.29. Still an impressive number, but not what we've expected. Code:
Central Florida 82, Florida International 56 |
Central Florida at Clemson
In our toughest game since the Duke loss, we jump out to an early 19-2 lead. That was enough to carry us the rest of the way despite Bright getting into early foul trouble. The bench actually looked decent, with 13 pts from Slaton and 11 pts from Mayne. Code:
Central Florida 85, Clemson 62 |
Notre Dame at Central Florida
We just flat out kicked some ass in this one. Rob took most of the night off. Code:
Central Florida 76, Notre Dame 40 |
Three steals in 10 minutes. Heh.
|
26 for 27 free throws on the year.
|
Would you mind editting the posts with the player information in them so that we can see the skill progression more easily?

I'm not sure what you're asking. It comes up very clear on my screen. |
Florida Atlantic at Central Florida
We beat up on a girls school. Code:
Central Florida 108, Florida Atlantic 38 |
Bethune-Cookman at Central Florida
It was Bright to Provost all night long. Code:
Central Florida 80, Bethune-Cookman 49 |
Michigan at Central Florida
We embarass a very bad Michigan team. My how the college basketball world has changed. Nielsen has more steals than points. Code:
Central Florida 87, Michigan 45 |
UAB at Central Florida
Our bench got some work in this one and Mayne was pretty impressive for a change. Code:
Central Florida 82, UAB 62 |
Tulsa at Central Florida
Provost's big scoring night is overshadowed by Wilson's 22 point, 18 rebound performance. Code:
Central Florida 83, Tulsa 67 |
I seem to be suffering from a sophomore slump but hey at least we're still kicking ass. :D
|
Good thing my turnover numbers seem to be dropping

Forgive me, for sometimes I can be dense. I understand now. It has been done. |
Central Florida at Southern Mississippi
Our closest game in a while, but still a relatively comfortable victory. Nielsen has an incredible night, with 20 pts, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals. Code:
Central Florida 89, Southern Mississippi 79 |
Central Florida at UTEP
We beat up on UTEP pretty badly. Bright puts up 31 on only 15 shots. Another good night from Nielsen who has 35 pts in the last two games. Code:
Central Florida 89, UTEP 44 |
Central Florida at West Virginia
We struggle a bit against a 4-10 West Virginia team. They had a 29-20 lead in the 1st half, but we fought back to tie the score at 33 at halftime. Then they proceed to go on a 9-0 run to start the half and we have to fight back again. It takes a while and we don't retake the lead until it is 54-52 with 6:15 left. We finally put it together and finish the game on a 14-3 run for the victory. Code:
Central Florida 64, West Virginia 55 |
Houston at Central Florida
I don't know what to say about this game. We got humiliated at home by an 8-8 Houston squad. I mean, damn. Check out the halftime score. Code:
Houston 77, Central Florida 50 |
Memphis at Central Florida
We rebound from the disastrous showing against Houston with an easy victory over Memphis. Moungey has his best game of the season. Code:
Central Florida 79, Memphis 52 |
Central Florida at Tulane
Easy victory for us. Bright was only the 5th leading scorer. Nielsen had another great all around night. Code:
Central Florida 77, Tulane 44 |

It looks like some of the players may already be hitting their improvement ceilings, but Provost showed some nice improvement on offense. That Houston game was just weird. Looks like the shots just weren't falling (1-13 from 3, Ouch!). Also, it's really telling that CFL took 16 more shots and still got blown out. |
Tulsa at Central Florida
We struggle yet again. Tulsa jumped out to 12 point halftime lead on us and held on to that lead for most of the game. With 6:37 left, they held a 69-57 lead.A 9-0 run put us within 3 and we got as close as 2 late in the game, but a turnover by Bright ended our chances. To see why we lost, check out the free throw shooting. Code:
Tulsa 79, Central Florida 75 |

All fixed now! Quote:
Right now I think our biggest problem is our PFS rating. It's really hurting us, especially with a weak bench. Quote:
Yeah, everyone just slumped in the same game. |
Central Florida at Memphis
We take out our frustrations on a weak Memphis team. They particularly had problems at the PG position. Code:
Central Florida 84, Memphis 48 |
Central Florida at Rice
Another blowout. Danny Wilson went nuts in this one. Code:
Central Florida 77, Rice 41 |
