Fan Value Index Article at SI.com (MLB)
SI has posted there ratings on MLB parks. You can check it out here:
hxxp://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/baseball/mlb/08/31/fvi/index.html It rates the parks on 7 categories. Average ticket price, concession prices, accessibility, amenities, atmosphere, neighbourhood and the quality of the team. The last place park shouldn't surprise you at all. |
maybe i'm being narrow-minded because i've been a car-owner for so long, but i think the scoring for the accessibility category is off. yankee stadium got a 7: yeah you can take a subway there, but if your driving, it's a pure nightmare(traffic, insane parking prices, ny drivers). taking the subway/train to/from the game is far from fun too(too many humans in too close proximity). meanwhile, kauffman stadium gets a 3 because there's no subway. but driving to kaufman is a breeze and parking there is like parking at a high school in august. last game i went to i thought the game was cancelled as i pulled up to the stadium and parked like 50 feet away. bottom line: kaufman stad. is much more accessible imho.

I think that's a good point. If they gave the new arena here a high accessibility rating because there's buses that go by it, I'd be pretty pissed since parking and traffic suck during events. |

I can remember watching a telecast a few times where this has happened. They would be panning the stadium and you're like, did I just see what I think I saw, then they would pan back and the announcers would get all quiet, it was always hilarious. On business I stayed in the hotel once and they warn you that during a game, tv camera's can see into your room so pull the privacy shades. |
