Maple Leafs, the winner of IWS #118 PMed me and asked me to handle this one since he'll be out of town for a couple of weeks. Since I was a 2nd place finisher for IWS #118, I'll make this one the Stupid Second Place Finishes.

The Questions

1. What Division I-A college football team will go undefeated but will not play in the Rose Bowl?

5. John Madden is currently one of the most well-known NFL commentators (largely due to a football game bearing his name). Who is the second most well-known NFL commentator?

6. If you could hire one NFL sideline reporter for the 2006 season for NBC and it could not be any past or current sideline reporter, who would it be?

The Rules

The rules are the same as previous FOFC “I’m With Stupid" Contests, as set forth by the game’s surprisingly wise founding fathers.

The object of this contest is to answer the questions posted, and to provide the most common answer among those submitted. For each question, your score will be equal to the number of people who submitted that response. Your score for the contest will be the product of your individual question scores. Highest score wins.

No collaborating in any way. No posting your answers to this board, nor sharing them by e-mail or in any other way with other potential contestants.

All determinations of "matches" and anything else requiring judgment fall to that of the sole administrator of this round of the game, me. You can reduce the need for doubt and judgment by properly spelling your submissions, being clear, and that sort of thing. My decisions are final and inarguable.

Any references that are unclear to you, due to language or geography, should be understood to be authored from the perspective of an English-speaking American high school graduate. However...

Your answers do not necessarily have to be correct in order to score points. If I ask "Who is FOFC’s moderator" and you and four other people answer "Hell Atlantic", you each get five points even though the answer is not technically correct.

IMO it was hard to come up with what Stupid might say (some of this for me was that I don't follow football as much as others here do, but that's ok). Eh, see how it goes! ;)

I'm still trying to figure out an answer to the Sideline Reporter question, especially with the caveat that it can't be any former sideline reporter. The others were great, I just can't get my head wrapped around this one. Maybe I'll come up with a swag here shortly...

Well, NBC will pick up the Sunday Night NFL games next year. They'll have John Madden and someone else (not Al Michaels since he'll move to ESPN for the Monday Night games) doing commentary. There has been no announcement (to the best of my knowledge) on who the sideline reporter will be (like Suzy Kolber, Melissa Stark, etc.). The last question is for you to pick someone who hasn't been and isn't a sideline reporter. Hope that helps a little.
