The only thing I can think of is conditioning of players. However, that's what the training camp settings are for.

Motivation.

Icy 09-24-2005 10:45 AM

Maybe gameplanning, but i have always wondered how could be bad/good gameplanning implemented in a game, i mean, how knows the computer AI what will be the best play to run? how can the AI be affected by bad gameplanning? choosing a wrong play? i guess we can't know it as we are not the programmers.

O and D Playcalling IMO

Warhammer 09-25-2005 02:22 AM

Yeah, O and D playcalling are the most important, followed by motivation, injury avoidance, and then discipline.

what does motivation rating do in fof?

i know displine rating helps with not getting a lot of penalties.

does this rating help too if you do your own gameplans?

I agree with Chubby and Warhammer. I go for play calling exclusively. I haven't seen any evidence that says injury avoidance and discipline will help to reduce injuries and penalties. And what motivation does is still a mystery to me.

Yes. You only set the percentages, the coach still has to call the plays.

Motivation helps with a VERY good roster. Ever wonder why teams with poor rosters pull that HUGE upset? Most of those coaches have high motivation ratings.

Injury avoidance certainly helps, but a well built team can shrug off some injuries with no precipitious drop in performance.

However, play calling can take a mediocre roster and turn it into a world beater!

I view offensive / defensive playcalling as affecting the specifics of the play. Even if you called your own plays, you still aren't specifying motion, audibles, playaction, etc. I figure that's where the playcalling skills come in, giving a slight boost/penalty to your team's performance on either side of the ball. I have lots of anecdotal evidence for this, but nothing concrete to back it up.
