2005 MLB Playoffs Thread

Man, I love having wall-to-wall baseball on today, starting at noon.

LoneStarGirl 10-04-2005 12:05 PM

Hell ya!
Go 'Stros

I think I am going to miss my classes today to catch all the games.

TazFTW 10-04-2005 03:43 PM

Well, the Padres made it look interesting late.

Matt Clement looks horrible.

WSUCougar 10-04-2005 04:23 PM

That's one. :D

TazFTW 10-04-2005 06:01 PM

Peavy fractured two ribs in his start against the Cards. He is out for the season.

pennywisesb 10-04-2005 06:16 PM

The Chi Sox looked very good. Contreras picked up right where he left off in the regular season.

Buccaneer 10-04-2005 07:07 PM

Today was not a good day. :(

miami_fan 10-04-2005 07:35 PM

This is the first baseball game I have seen on Fox with Tim McCarver announcing all year. He is STILL terrible. In these troubled times, it is good to see that you can count on certain things

kingfc22 10-04-2005 07:55 PM

And down goes A-Rod!

A real shame, too. Without Peavy, the Pads just don't seem to have the slim chance they had coming in and I was really pulling for them after meeting a couple of really nice people in their front office, one of whom hooked us up with great seats (section 100 row ~15 and section 104 row ~15) when we were there for our honeymoon in July.

Can anyone tell me what happened to ARod?

Colon went inside on a 2-0 pitch, but it slipped and hit Arod in the ribs. He trotted down to 1st so he's probably ok. Doubt it was intentional as it loaded the bases.

Got smoked by a Colon fastball in the back. He stayed in the game though

SI, I forgot to ask you about your visit to Petco. I hope to go there one of these years.

I never had any illusions about the Pads beating the Cards but in a short series with good pitching, anything can happen. If the Pads win with Pedro or Eaton (remember the Giants series), then they would be forced to go with Williams or B-Law for Game 4 and nothing good will come out of that.

bleah. that's all I have to say about yesterday.

JeeberD 10-05-2005 11:09 AM

WTF? Why was Johnny Damon wearing an Astros hat during the Red Sox wild card celebration?

MizzouRah 10-05-2005 12:19 PM

Why would anyone wear an Astros hat? :P

sterlingice 10-05-2005 12:20 PM

Hey!

Don't you have some Chicago ballclub to go and feel inferior to (even tho you're in the playoffs and they're home)? :p

Considering I just came home from "baseball, what is baseball?" Kansas City. Being back is quite nice and well, we've been inferior to the Cubs for so long, the novelty has worn off some time ago.

Now leave me and my Tim Hudson home jersey alone. :)

sterlingice 10-05-2005 05:29 PM

Bags!

SI

JeeberD 10-05-2005 05:30 PM

You gotta love it! :D

JeeberD 10-05-2005 05:37 PM

You also gotta love seeing the Braves pitching staff implode... :)

LoneStarGirl 10-05-2005 06:30 PM

Wasn't that game wonderful Jeeber? I HATE the Braves and both the Jones boys.

JeeberD 10-05-2005 06:39 PM

It was glorious. The only thing that worries me was how shaky our relief looked, but hopefully they were just too loose with that seven run lead...

Karlifornia 10-05-2005 07:34 PM

Tony "Buckner" Graffanino

sterlingice 10-05-2005 07:35 PM

Yes, because this is the same as costing your team the World Series

Well, if you want to get into detail, Buckner didn't cost them the series. They had a chance in Game 7.

Karlifornia 10-05-2005 07:39 PM

Dola,

...and look at that..3-run homer

Swaggs 10-05-2005 07:41 PM

Wow.

True, but we're talking about this in the same vein of crucifying one guy as the Cards incessant whining about umpire or the villification of Steve Bartman.

Big hit by Graffanino

kingfc22 10-05-2005 08:40 PM

Sox lose!!! Sox lose!!! Sox lose!!!

miami_fan 10-05-2005 08:40 PM

Ballgame. I still think that there will be a game 5. It would shocked the hell out of me if Boston can't hit better in Fenway

DaddyTorgo 10-05-2005 08:54 PM

i'd like to think there'd be a game 5, but i'm really not so sure. i definately see it going to 4.

Cards4ever 10-06-2005 12:35 AM

Cards fans inferior? The only team they should feel inferior to are the Yankees.

Aesyrqwe 10-06-2005 02:30 AM

Can anyone say White Sox Sweep?

Its our turn :)

Recoil 10-06-2005 08:23 PM

Let's go Braves.

Rizon 10-06-2005 09:13 PM

I wish death upon whoever thought up Scooter.

(And Steve Lyons, that moron)

Cards4ever 10-06-2005 09:24 PM

Hmm, no witty posts by Astro's faithful during the game tonight? Oh yeah, they are losing.

I was sure I'd see them tonight seeing as how "The Rocket" was pitching. It's not over yet, though. Our bullpen has proven itself to be one of the worst in baseball.

Cards4ever 10-06-2005 09:36 PM

That's true, when you win 1 postseason series in your history you should talk all the smack you can, whenever you can.

MizzouRah 10-06-2005 09:41 PM

GO BRAVES!!
