NCAA Week 6
discuss.
I think for true insight, they need to listen to the In the Bleachers Podcast, a weekly college football show that discusses everything they care about, except for Kirk Herbstreit's eyes.
Va Tech just turned the ball over for only the second time this year. They are tied with Marshall 7-7.
i going to watch today arizona vs usc and oklahoma vs texas.
is california and ucla on tv today? i dont see it listed on tv here in los angeles |
YES!!! Keith Jackson is calling the Red River Shootout. I was dreading having to listen to Brent Musburger.
Cal/UCLA is on TBS @ 7:30 PM EST
thanks swagg.
Rutgers is getting ass-raped by WVU right now. 21-0 midway through the 2nd.
AAGH!!! Where did the video feed go from the Cotton Bowl?
Quote:
Heh, dunno. Thats why i flipped back to Rutgers for a while though, and they are actually driving the ball well at the moment. |
sonofabitch.
I'm getting BC-UVA instead of OU-Texas. :( |
Quote:
This drive has lasted forever. |
Quote:
And I'm getting Minnesota-Michigan. AAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
techincal defficult for the texas vs oklahoma game.
they switch the game for now. i getting michigan vs minn until they fix it |
TOUCHDOWN TEXAS!!!!
That was perfect timing to get the feed back. :D |
Rutgers just finished off a great drive (14 playes, 80 yards) with FB Brian Leonard plowing his way into the endzone. Signs of life! 21-7 West Virginia now.
Rutgers did look good on that drive. The crowd is still into it, too.
That was the worst tackling since Tommie Frazier wasn't brought down back in 95
Nice to see instant replay review being put to good use today in Mich-Minn game.
WVU's big nose tackle is hurt and we are missing him now.
Rutgers defense held West Virginia to a 45 yard field goal to open the second half (24-7). Rutgers responds with another very big drive, ending with another Briand Leonard 1 yard touchdown run... this one on 4th and goal from just inches out. 24-14. This isn't over yet, but they're going to need to start stopping WVU's offense cold or they're going to run out of time.
3-and-out for West Virginia, but Rutgers is pinned way back at their 6. 2 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter.
What, Maroney wasn't ruled down before the fumble?
Exchange of posessions in the Rutgers-WVU game. Rutgers about the get the ball back with 11 miinutes to go, still down 24-14.
They absolutely need a score on this drive. |
According to the scoreboard, Indiana scored 1 point in the 3rd qtr.
Eagles missed their THIRD Field Goal, and are tied with Virginia, 7-7 at half/
27-14, West Virginia leading Rutgers with just over 4 minutes to go. We're now in the "need a miracle" range.
I think I can understand the Schiano frustration now. Terrible playcalling on that last drive.
Interception on a tipped ball by West Virginia, and now they'll just run out the clock. Rutgers just couldn't overcome the early mistakes, but played quite competitively. Syracuse next week is definitely a winnable game.
No miracle. Rutgers played well from the mid-way point of the second quarter on, but they made so many mistakes early on that it didn't matter.
Quote:
Yeah, zero sense of urgency, although it could have a lot to do with the freshman QB being out there. He must just be checking down more than he should in such a situation. |
I think Rutgers will destroy Syracuse.
Quote:
But was that the time to play the freshman QB? |
Quote:
He'd been playing most the game, not just on that drive. Whether Teel should be playing is a whole other question. |
Yup, these ACC refs blow goats.
What a horrible set of calls. Hope the guy gets suspended for the cheap shot (AFTER THE PLAY, on the injured knee) on Kiwanuka) |
I'm pretty happy with that win. Playing on the road against a team that just beat Pitt and in-between games against Va Tech and Louisville, that could have been a let down game for WVU, but they did pretty well.
Being 5-1 is pretty solid, considering that we are breaking in new starters at every skill position except TE, and QBs had only played in one series prior to this season. We have beaten everyone we were expected to, lost the one we were supposed to lose (vs VT), and beat Maryland (which was sort of a toss-up). Next week, we get Louisville at home. After that game, we should be favored in all of our games from there on out and have a good shot at a 9-2 or 10-1 season. |
Quote:
BC better pick it up. They were my SGS Sure Thing of the Week. :) |
Quote:
oh THAT non-call is FUCKING RIDICULOUS!!! i'm assuming he'll be suspended, i can't imagine the NCAA would not *really steamed over here, HATES cheap-shots by anyone* |
Looks like Northwestern is going to end Wisconsin's perfect season. They are up by 17 with 4 minutes left.
Quote:
Make that 10 with 3:53. Nobody's playing any defense at all. |
Just noticing on the play-by-play that the Michigan defense has been called for three 15-yard penalties in the first few minutes of the second half, probably costing them ten points. What are they doing, kicking the QB in the face after every play?
I wish ABC would use its feeds smarter. We have Indiana and Illinois on two different channels, BC and Virginia on two different channels, but no Michigan. |
14-14. BC with a nice drive. Now we need a stop.
I can't tell if the Big Ten is really balanced or just not that good.
I'm thinking Ohio State is probably one of the best four teams in the country and then they have a glut of very good teams. |
BLOCKED PUNT BY BC!
Interesting call, the punter deliberately kicked the ball out of the endzone trying to get a safety, and since he did it on the field of play, they flagged him, and BC gets the ball at the 2.
That was a catch in the Wisconsin game. Poor miss call by the officials.
Seminoles win a real close game. I am now firm we will lose atleast two games this season.
Even the replay officials are blind, but I guess it doesn't matter since they just got a TD.

Noop, I hope you're right. Cuz we have to play VTech later this year and that'll be our second ACC loss. |
VT 41 - 14 over Marshall. Both of our co-starting running backs were out with Imoh missing the whole game with an ankle injury and Humes breaking his arm in the second quarter. Freshman Brenden Ore came in and had the best rushing performance of the season by racking up ~150 yards on ~20 carries. He will likely be the primary ball carrier for the remainder of the year.
