I went to Hollywood Video for the first time in 6 months last weekend and they have 8 tables of previous viewed DVDs on sale for 3 for $30 and 5 for $20 (or something like that). Well over a hundred titles of movies that came out last half 2004 and first half 2005. Other than Ocean's 12 which I already have, there was not a single movie I was interested in purchasing. I imagine there would be some summer 2005 DVDs I'd be interested in but right now I can't think of a single movie (other than that awful SW movie) that came out this summer. Truly a depressing period for movie making, as the box office seems to reflect.

Joe 10-22-2005 12:32 PM

ooh ok. you mustve gotten the regular edition of batman begins and not the deluxe edition then. regular was 14.99 and deluxe was 18.99 here.

DaddyTorgo 10-22-2005 12:39 PM

i havn't bought a lot of DVD's lately. just honestly not a lot of movies that interest me anymore, and with my collection at the size it's it (something like...3-4k worth of dvd's) i don't have much to fill in

I agree with that. We have about 200 DVDs of movies and TV shows and since I now have my top 20 favorite movies all in DVDs, I'm content.

dervack 10-22-2005 12:46 PM

I picked up the Deluxe Edition of Batman Begins, now I'm just debating if I want to cut out the UPC to get $7 back.

jbmagic 10-22-2005 12:54 PM

95% of the time, with 2 people, it's cheaper that way.

SackAttack 10-22-2005 02:14 PM

I picked up Season 1 of Smallville, just because it was on sale for like 40 bucks off normal price. I figured, for the price of a regular DVD, I'll check the show out.

Easy Mac 10-22-2005 02:23 PM

All i can say is i like netflix and blockbuster. i had plenty of movies before, but now i spend far less. i shall say no more.

Raiders Army 10-22-2005 06:51 PM

I'm in the same boat. I can't justify to myself spending $10 on a dvd that i'll watch, at most, once.

Joe Canadian 10-22-2005 09:06 PM

This Week:

Batman Begins: Deluxe Edition
Batman: Special Edition
Batman Returns: Special Edition
The Big Lebowski: Special Edition

Next Week:

Titantic: Special Edition

Week After That:

Star Wars: Episode III
Office Space: Special Edition

AZSpeechCoach 10-22-2005 09:24 PM

November will be a good month for me. Star Wars, Office Space, and then King Kong comes out...the 1933 King Kong. This month, I bought Star Trek: Nemesis. I'm debating over the deluxe edition of The Wizard of Oz.

Took way too long in this thread for someone to say this. Loren picked this up for me Tuesday. Watched it twice on the road and just finished seeing it home on the big tv. Loved it. Good addition to the Dead series.

Not to mention I love me some Asia Argento. Greatest tattoo on a female ever.

CHEMICAL SOLDIER 10-23-2005 12:02 PM

I picked up Kingdom of Heaven. Though very fictionalized, I though it was a great action flick and showed medieval siege warfare well.

I picked that up as well. It exceeded my expectations, it was pretty good. I also picked up Batman Begins; I was thinking about getting the deluxe version, but I never usually watch most of that extra stuff, so I just got the regular.

How is/was saw:Uncut btw? It's been so long since I've seen Saw I'm not sure I could tell what's different in the Uncut version, but curious if this is worth watching.

Ditto. Best Buy had Office Space for $12. I wasn't going to spend $22 on a stapler, mug, mousepad, etc.

Ditto on buying Office Space SE. Not sure if you were also ditto'ing the purchase of SWIII, which I couldn't care less about and won't be purchasing (really I'm not a fan of SW).

I still need/want to pickup Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

I also picked up Lunar: Dragon Song for my Nintendo DS.

/tk

Joe Canadian 11-05-2005 04:03 PM

Tuesday, or should I say this week, is going to be expensive...

- Big Fish: SE
- Charlie & the Chocolate Factory: Deluxe Edition
- Edward Scissorhands: Collectible Tin Anniversary Edition
- Jumanji: SE
- Live 8 Set, may pick up the seperate Toronto disk... but I want to see what's included from that concert in the set... and how's it's put together.

Joe 11-05-2005 04:04 PM

I'll be picking up the Live 8 dvd set next week. Some great stuff on there including Pink Floyd's full set. W00T.
