Bush even botched Katrina -- too many white people died
 

I had seen these stats before, but not in the major media. A 'disproportionate' number of the Katrina victims in New Orleans were white. And not poor. Bush couldn't get blowing the levees right.

New Orleans was the site of most of Katrina's fatalities; the state reported that 76% of storm deaths statewide occurred in the city. Of the 380 bodies from New Orleans that have been formally identified, a moderately disproportionate number are white. New Orleans' population was 28% white, yet 33% of the identified victims in the city are white and 67% black.

"The affected population is more multiracial, multiethnic and multicultural than one might discern from national media reports," said Richard Campanella, a Tulane University geographer who has studied which parts of the city were hit the worst by flooding. His research showed that predominantly white districts in the city were almost as likely to flood as predominantly black ones.

And one has to remember that 24% of the victims were outside New Orleans, mostly in St. Bernard and Plaquemines parishes, areas that have been forgotten by the national media, not to mention the Mississippi Gulf coast.

I wonder what Rev. Farrakhan will say about this?

That whole thing makes me so angry. I am not sure he is to blame for that.

Honestly I think there is blame to go around for everyone, from Bush to FEMA to Blanco to Nagin and a whole bunch of people in between. But I also get tired of the media creation that Katrina only affected poor black people in New Orleans. I know people in Plaquemines Parish who were on their own for weeks after Katrina while the whole world focused on New Orleans. And the same is true in St. Bernard Parish.

That should farra-KHAAAAAANNNN!!!!

Fortunately, I'm sure the facts will never get in the way of a good story. I wonder if Spike Lee's documentary about how the levees were intentionally destroyed in the black neighborhoods will quote these figures?

Ping QuikSand and all that, but I'm not sure this part of the article really says what the article's writer thinks it does. I've bolded the key part. The statement here is simply that more white folks are getting identified than black folks. I don't see data on how many bodies (identified or not) are from either race. And that doesn't mention how many bodies it is estimated have never been recovered and what race they are likely to be.

Wow, only 67% of the formally indentified bodies are black? All this time I thought it was proportional at 72%! For shame, liberal media, for shame.
