Chicken Wings (Buffalo Wild Wings in particular)
Any B-Dub fans out there? Today is 35 cent wing day, and it sounds pretty damn good.
Hot BBQ Flavor with Ranch on the side. Too bad no beer at work to go with. :) What are the other good wing places out there? |
A big group of us here at work go every Tuesday.
|
BWW is, by far, the best chain I've ever gone.
|
There is a place in Atlanta called Buffalos...Tuesday nights is 10 cent wings :) Great wings, cold beer...perfect dinner!
|
They officially Buffalo Wild Wings now? I still call them BW3's but, thought they dropped the other W...
I still go with Spicy Garlic... Blazin is good too... |
How many can you eat? I ordered 18 one Tuesday and didn't want chicken wings for some time.
I got into B-Dubs back when the UCF Basketball Coach's Show was broadcast from one right down the way from campus. Tasty!! |
Dola, they are officially known as Buffalo Wild Wings now.. I've always known it as B-Dub's though.
Nice tall Blue Moon with the wings of course.. |

When I lived downtown, JR Crickets across from the Varsity had some mighty tasty wings. |
Uhoh, I smell a RendeR rant coming...
|
Wingstop is a really good place. They don't have any out here, but there was one in El Paso.
Pictures of the wings |

I thought there was just a BP station across from the Varsity? I lived on/near Tech's campus for 3 years and never heard of this place, and I love wings. Such regret!! |

IIRC, it's not quite at the Varsity. Right across from the last East Campus dorms, I know there was a Quizno's, and I think a wing place also? |
There is a local bar & grill operation here in KC that actually has great wings that don't make me sick. Most chain-operated wing operations -- Buffalo Wild Wings to a certain degree, Hooters to a very large degree -- are like eating cookie dough: it seems like a good idea at the time, but when you're curled up in a ball praying to the porcelain gods for relief it loses quite a bit of this charm.

Ohh, at the Georgia State dorms? The shops there weren't open yet when i was a student. |
There's a place in St. Louis called Hodak's that specializes in fried chicken. They have a six-wing dinner that is marvelous. These are not buffalo wings or even BBQed, just straight fried, but DAMN are they good. They're also pterodactyl-sized wings. w00t!
|
I always get lemon pepper wings from one of the local places on my way home from work....don't care much for chains aside from Taco Mac every once in a while.

I loved BW3 when I was in college. Back in my day, they were 25 cents on Tuesday, though. ;)

Radii, it across Spring street from the Varsity past the Subway on the corner. What did you think of Wing Zone? |
Mmmmmm, B-Dubs. Honestly though, I don't go there for wings (not a bone-in wing fan myself). I love the Kimmelweck buns on the sandwiches.
I have a fondness for the boneless wings at Quaker Steak & Lube. |

The original QS & L used to be my favorite place on earth. Well after i moved back and visited it after about a 6-7 year abscence, their wings have now gone to shit IMO. Taste and quality is not what it once was. Sigh. |
Anchor Bar or bust!
|
I don't care for vinegar based sauces, they taste like vomit. So I havent really found a good place for wings yet. we have a B-dubs here, and I ate there once, didnt get wings though. I liked the trivia game.
|
Buffalo Cafe's are too hit and miss. Some have great wings, others are terrible. Bdubs are the best for consistency.
|
BW3's
There's one right on 4th Ave. here in Huntington. Good stuff.
|
Anchor Bar is ok, too bad they copied Buffalo Wild Wings ;)
|
In all honesty, BW3 really does not properly represent true Buffalo Wings. You really need to come to Buffalo to have it done right. Even most places in Rochester screw it up, which still amazes me

Have you ever been to WingStop? They have pretty good food especially their seasoned fries. |
I went and got food from Wings 2 Go over in Shreveport. I ordered enough for the whole family. Including 4 drinks.
Me - "Can I get a cup holder?" Employee - "Sorry, we don't have those." Me - "What do you mean, you don't have those?" Employee - "I'll check with the manager..........sorry, we don't have any." Me - "This is 'Wings 2 Go' right?" Employee - "..." Me - "Fine. I'll just take my 4 drinks and my 2 bags of food and balance it all on my lap on the way home." Employee - "...k,thx, have a nice day." They were good wings though and I didn't spill the drinks. |
how do they do buffalo wings in buffalo differently?
as for buffalo wild wings, affectionately known as "the buffalo bitch", I always get the boneless buffalo wings...they are pretty good, don't have to mess with the bone...just the chicken. |
We have a wing-ding every year, which has about 30 restaurants competing in specific categories such as hottest wing, most exotic wing, best tasting, etc... It's like $20 to get in and then all the wings you can eat. I love it.

Wings without the bones?!!? What kind of sissy nancy-boy fucking way is that to eat 'em? Suicide wings with pitchers of beer is the only way to go!!! |
BW3's wings are shit. Scrawny little fuckers, and not particularly tasty. A real shame too, because there's one about 100 yards away from my apartment complex.
Luckily, there's an *excellent* wings joint a few miles away. Me and a buddy usually hit there once every couple of weeks for wings & beer. |

Yeah, I didnt care for their regular sauce, too vinegary for me |
I don't mind BW3s. The waitresses are fugly here in Findlay though.
Last year the week of the Michigan game a friend and I went on a Tuesday. We pulled in and the place was dead. Walked in and saw a sign that said John Cooper was going to be there, I thought to myself..."well no wander no one is here." The manager married one of my classmates, he came over to talk to us. I said "John Cooper came so no one else did? If I had known that dumbass was going to be here I would have went to Fricker's." At that time I hadn't seen Cooper, I thought he left....nope the manager said "well he is sitting at the table right behind you." :) |

Yes, yes they do. There are a few places that do em well though. Jeremiah's in particular is quite good. There aren't many reasons to go to Buffalo, but if you're there, you might as well swing by the Anchor Bar (although personally I prefer Duff's). Mmmm....Duff's. |
I would love some real Buffalo wings from Buffalo. I think here in Missouri a place called "Rookies' is best, followed by my friends restaurant who not only has hot wings, but some out of this world honey chipolte.

I don't normally eat wings without the bones but, there is something to be said for the boneless Shanghai Wings at Chilis |

[quote=sooner333]how do they do buffalo wings in buffalo differently?
It mostly has to do with the size of the wings (typically wings other than in Buffalo tend to be much smaller) as well as the sauce. Barbeque and sesame wings are a big no no, as are baked wings (like at Hooeters). Anchor bar in particular loads their sauce onto the wings so that each wing is amply covered. How many hands do you eat your wings with? You can tell an experienced wing eater because they use only one and get all the meat off the bone. |
Hooters bakes their wings? I thought they deep fried the shit out of everything. Except their waitresses.

I'm gonna make a stop there next week! |

Ugh, no way! If I'm going that route, I'd rather have the Awesome Blossom at Chili's. But I rarely go that route. It's all about the kookaburra wings. |
