Ping: Cardinal Fans
Gone:
Roger Cedeno Einar Diaz Cal Eldred Mark Grudzielanek Bo Hart Mike Lincoln John Mabry Mike Mahoney Matt Morris Abraham Nunez Al Reyes Reggie Sanders Scott Seabol Julian Tavarez Larry Walker Gabe White Our biggest pickups: A drunk starting pitcher who may not crack the rotation (even with Morris gone) and a radio commentator. The NL Central has to be laughing at us. Let us have it, Jeeber. I'm buying my Chris Burke (Tennessee guy) jersey later this year. |
Ownership certainly has to answer some questions about the way they're limiting Jocketty's ability to build the team this year, especially considering that the Cards are moving into a nice new stadium.
|
I was a bit fiery at first, but I don't think we are done - first of all - and really, we still have enough to go to the post season.
I drink a lot of beer, do people call me that drunk technician? What has Houston done? Oh yeah, they lost their best pitcher. |

What questions? That this is a business to them and now they will really start making money. They don't care, it's all about the $$$$ fans will come to the new stadium. I'm glad we didn't get Burnett or Jacque Jones or any of the other high priced players. I still have faith in Walt and I think I see what the Cardinals plan is... paitentally wait it out. |

Forgot about that...:D |

Shoot. I forgot the trade of Ray King. Hey, bright side, maybe we can bring back Jim Lindeman. |

He was awesome. |
Keep your eyes open. I think signing Ponson may lead to a Marquis-for-OF trade.

No one need be concerned. I have been signed to play left field. It's all going to be fine.
|
Tom Lawless still has game, or so I hear. I think John Costello and Stubby Clapp are looking for work as well.

Excerpts from stlcardinals.com
ST. LOUIS -- Continuing a recent tradition, the Cardinals waited until the last minute to do their Christmas shopping. The Cards have agreed to terms with free-agent outfielder Juan Encarnacion on a three-year contract worth a reported $15 million, filling their vacancy in right field.
Encarnacion is considered something of an all-or-nothing player. He has the ability to hit for power -- including 24 home runs in 2002 -- but rarely walks and has often posted low on-base percentages. His defensive profile is similar, a player who has a strong arm and can make spectacular plays but sometimes makes unnecessary mistakes. In a revamped Cardinals lineup, Encarnacion likely slots as the regular right fielder alongside Jim Edmonds, with Larry Bigbie projected as the starter in left. He might slide into the No. 6 spot in the batting order, between Scott Rolen and Bigbie. The only remaining question in the Cardinals order is at second base. Aaron Miles, Hector Luna and Deivi Cruz may battle for the job, or the club could still sign one more free agent -- Willie Harris and Junior Spivey are both considered candidates. ------- Shoot me now. I'd rather teach that Duncan boy to play right field. I'd also rather have Bret Boone at second base. |
That's not very good.
|
Good news for the Brewers. Haven't been able to say that in about... well.... Not since I've been alive.
|
Yippee. Someone hold me down. We signed Junior Spivey.

Junior did wonders for my fantasy team. In 2002. |
Quote:
I'm not sure about this, but I think Spivey is the active career leader in warning track fly balls. I think if he did 20 more pushups a day, he would lead the league in home runs. |
I bet Rickey Henderson would like to be a Cardinal.
|
Cardinals sign Juan Encarnacion and Junior Spivey!!
I loke both of these signings, very nice!! http://stlouis.cardinals.mlb.com/NAS...x.jsp?c_id=stl |
You are so behind the times, and you're selling out. We should have done much better than this.

i cry myself to sleep every night with how st. louis sports have gone...first the rams starting decling a few years ago, then the blues this season with the what, 5 wins?...and now this...i weep god damnit!
|
We couldn't have done any better, imo. Who did you want, and at what price?
|
These two guys are just band-aids, I'm afraid.
|
Didn't the Cardinals finance their own stadium? Makes me wonder if they didn't think "stay put and let the great fans of St. Louis come out just to see the new digs, because money is tight".
