decals on players helmets
noticed them during the OSU game and again in the Georgia game. Are they earned as recognition?
|
Usually, yes.
|
Pride stickers. Some teams use them. Probably like 35. Yes, awarded for certain goals achieved, usually game to game if I am correct
|
I think every time a Miami player makes a good play, they should get a handcuffs decal

Random question:
UGA helmets have a decal onthe back of them with the states of Georgia, Mississippi, and Alabama on them. What's the signifigance of this? SEC East has schools in Florida and Tennessee and South Carolina. If it were Katrina related it'd have Louisiana on it I assume. Oliegirl and I noticed that awhile ago and I dont' think we ever could figure out the signifigance of it. |
Found lots of info. This is from Jim Tressel's website.

BYU was a team effort....
Basically, each squad had goals to achieve, if the offense, defense or special teams hit their goals, every player achieved it.... I like the individual aspect more though. |

found various places around the 'net All SEC teams will wear black decals on their helmets to honor the victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The decals, in the shape of a map of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, were the brainchild of Arkansas equipment manager Cory Jacobs. I think I noticed what looked like a different sticker on some of the UGA helmets last night, individual state outlines instead of the Gulf Coast map thing that I believe the little snippet above refers to, not sure what those were about (or if my eyes were just deceiving me). |
And the black bones are for academic achievement, btw.

West Virginia used to award muskets on the helmets, but abandoned using them when Coach Rodriguez took over because he thinks it promotes individualism and (more importantly) the coaches have enough work that they should not have to take time to judge who gets them. I always liked them, though.
