So, who do you want your team to draft?
The non-playoff teams look to the off-season to upgrade their teams, through free agency and the draft. Fourtunatly for me my Bears made the playoffs, with a first round bye . I could care less about the off-season, but I know fans of other teams, *cough*Packers*cough*, are looking to have a good off-season to make a run for the title next season.
On another note I feel bad for the Saints, because what half-way decent free-agent or first round pick would want to go to a team as unstable as the Saints. I have a hard time imagining Reggie Bush or Matt Leinart actually signing with the Saints. Packers either have to resign Ahman Green or find a replacement. I seriously doubt Samkon Gado or Najeh Davenport can carry the load an entire season. Minnesota looks like they will implode their team. They have a lot of free agents they are going to have to resign or replace. San Francisco needs anything they can get. San Diego has an interesting situation with Rivers, what will they do with him. How will they tweak their roster for next season, a better offensive line would help. Also what will Miami do with their two running backs Williams and Brown. The Dolphins ended the season strong can they continue the momentum into next season? I'm not that interested in the off-season yet, but I will be after the Bears win the Superbowl. :p |

What are the chances of Lendale White and Reggie Bush both leaving USC. I think Lendale would be a good fit for the Raiders. |
Decent offensive linemen, corners, and a promising young QB... :)
|
Does anybody know where there is a good resource for NFL teams cap situation for next year?
|
Quote:
Don't forget linebackers and defensive linemen..... |
They got plenty of those last draft. Ware, Spears, and Canty are gonna anchor the D for quite a while...
|
Quote:
They lack depth in those positions as well. |
|
Lions:
Dream Wish - A new GM. Realistic Wish - Anything other than a WR or O-Lineman. Yes, yes, I know. Our O-line is awful. I agree; however, I think a lot of the best OL guys in the league weren't drafted in the 1st round. I want us to draft someone with a lot of skill and toughness, preferably QB, DE, or DB. Trade up for Leinert or Hawk, or wait for the best player that drops to you. |

As a Lion fan, I normally hate the Bears, but this season, I've been rooting for you guys bigtime. In fact, I called for you guys to win it all like 3 months ago. |
Quote:
What made you root for the Bears this year? |
Quote:
I like how they play. Underdogs with an edge and a super strong defense. Exactly what I wish the Lions would be. |
Quote:
You can find depth in the later rounds. Spend the high picks on the positions where we have no talent... |

Safety? |

If I could have one football wish granted, it would be for Millen to take another WR with the 1st pick. Not to spite the Lions, I just think it would be one of the funniest moments in NFL history. |
Quote:
I think a free safety that excels in pass coverage is the most pressing need for the 'boys. That and a kicker that doesn't suck. Oh, and a tackle although I think Petiti did an admirable job considering he had to start as a rookie because of injuries. A guard also since the Cowboys have two old ones. |
I want to choose the best player available with pick #32!
GO BENGALS! |
Here is a decent site to follow underclassmen
hxxp://www.draftshowcase.com/UnderclassmanTracker.htm |
I think a couple of great tight ends will come out of this draft class in Leonard Pope of Georgia and Vernon Davis of Maryland.
|
Quote:
Davis should be very good. Pope should be average-above average imo. |
Quote:
True. Davis is the true gem at TE, but I think Pope will be pretty good as well. |
Quote:
BTW, I want them to get A.J. Hawk. His girlfriend is hot. |
I'd like to see Alan Zemaitis go to the Patriots. I think that's a good fit.
|
I'd like to see the Jets get Vince Young or Leinart at #4. Chad Pennington will never play for them again, but because they cannot afford the cap hit to release him now, they will actually pay him his roster bonus in march, IR him as soon as they can, all for the purpose of releasing him on June 1, 2007.
A few comments on other things posted here. DeShaun Foster will not hit the open market. He'll either sign long term or be franchised. Stephen Davis will be gone from Carolina. I think Green Bay will not bring Ahman Green back. He'd cost too much, and I am not sure he is better at this point than whoever among Davenport, Fisher and Gado would play the most. I think Davenport is an absolute stud, if he could stay healthy. I don't think there is any way Reggie Wayne gets a big deal from the Colts. They will have to choose between him and Edge and they'll pick Edge. As for TE's in the draft, at the beginning of the season, UCLA's Mercedes Lewis was projected as a top 10 pick. Has he dropped below those two other guys? |
The Bengals need a strong safety, a TE and DTs probably in that order. They should be able to improve themselves ala Pittsburgh's recent late first round pick-ups of Polamalu and Miller.

East coast bias. :) |
I'd like to see cincy pursue Grady Jackson and draft a TE. I think if Palmer had a TE, there would be no way to stop the offense.. I would like to see them release John Thornton, Kim Herring, and one or two of their three TE's, along with Duane Clemons, if he is still signed for next season.
I also want them to lock up Willie Anderson, Levi Jones, and Eric Steinbach for the foreseeable future. Those three are all Pro Bowl Linemen.. I also would like to see depth at CB and Safety addressed, maybe With Demps at safety and a physical mid-round drafted CB. |
Oh, and put me in the camp that believes Samkon Gado and Najeh Davenport will be just fine for the Pack.. They have MUCH bigger needs to address.
|
I want the Browns to pick AJ Hawk, but doubt that he'll be around at #12. So basically LB,OL,DL,DB would be nice
|
Safety and DT are needs 1 and 1a for the Bengals. I'd love to sign Archuleta or Demps at safety and draft Jesse Mahelona at DT.
Of course, the defense needs playmakers, period. So if the best defensive player available when they draft is a DE, that would be OK-maybe Tamba Hali. The answer at tight end is coming in the second round, Bengals fans, Anthony Fasano will graduate this spring and is probably coming out. While not as flashy as Pope or Lewis, he is a darned good receiver while giving up nothing as a blocker. |
Quote:
If there's any team that can do this, it's the Bengals -- after all, they have a history of doing exactly that (taking the best guy who would have been around at #32) when they have been holding the #10 pick. |
Quote:
There are question marks about whether Dallas will keep Keyshawn, Ellis, Allen and Glover. Decisions on those guys will play heavily into what they decide to do in the draft. But other than that, I think inside linebacker has to be the top need. Shanle and Fowler are solid players, but it appears Nguyen is going to retire. They need a monster in there. I agree with the quoted post as well. Free safety, offensive line and kicker are all big needs. I think they'll sign a FA kicker, and I wouldn't expect them to draft a free safety in the 1st round. 1st round will probably be either an offensive lineman or linebacker with a wide receiver being the wild card. |
Quote:
The last guy they picked at #10 who was said to be taken too early is a pro bowl alternate LT and shut down Dwight Freeney for an entire game. A few draft "pundits" have written this year that he was clearly the right choice. The defense still needs work, but the talent on offense is homegrown. Sure, the Bengals sucked in the warroom throughout most of the 90's, but that trend has been missing for a few years. |

This is Steelers only...but I've seen others for single teams. This guy does a pretty good job keeping this up to date and accurate. http://www.burghsportsguys.com/home/...d=13&Itemid=35 |
I hope Randle El heads to Miami. :)
|
I hope my beloved Cards take a QB in the first or second round like they should have done last draft
|
Quote:
And the one before that. And the one before that. And the one before that..... |
Quote:
I hope Randel El gets as far the fuck away from Pittsburgh as possible, so we agree on this one. |
Quote:
I don't really know who is projected to go where, I was just looking at the list of guys coming out early and saw those two tight ends on there. I can't imagine Lewis being a better athlete than Davis who is 6'3" 250 and runs a 4.41 40. |
Anyone else believe that Favre might leave Green Bay and play 2-3 more seasons somewhere else?
NFL network gurus were tossing the idea around last night and apparently Miami has expressed interest in bringing him in, I personally can't imagine it happening, but if it did, Miami becomes a major contender almost instantly with that move. Their only real weakness was Frerrotte at QB. |
Quote:
The speculaton I heard bantered around was Favre going to Dallas to pair up with Parcells for one more season (for both of them?). |
After reading this thread I decided to dig up some mock drafts just to try to get a feel for the draft class. This site has links to a bunch of them: http://www.hailredskins.com/MockDraft.htm
Several of them have projected the Lions taking Jimmy Williams out of VT. Not sure what I think of that. I'm also still not sure what to make of the situation at TE. Most still seem to have Mercedes Lewis as the number one guy, but I've seen Vernon Davis projected going anywhere from the top ten to the 7th round. |
Quote:
http://qisports.com/nfldraft.html Worst. Mock draft. Ever. Reggie Bush going #3? Mmmkay... |
Dola-
Nevermind. This one has him going *snicker* #8... http://www.lionbacker.com/?id=draft&sub=06-diezmock1 Edit: The link to it says that it was updated 12/24, but looking at the draft positions I'm not sure that's right. |
Dolphins Fan...
Is the QB from Vanderbilt the real deal? Worth a flier in the first round? I have no idea. I'd love for the fins to trade up and select Whiny Leiny who seemingly won't play for the Saints, so maybe NO will take Ricky Williams back, along with a boatload of draft picks for the #2 overall... |
Quote:
That one is definitely old. Before this year there was a lot of talk about Bush not being able to handle the load in the pros, and he wasn't really hyped to be the number one pick until the last few months. |
Quote:
He may have competition... http://insidetheeagles.com/2006mockdraft.htm Maybe not the overwhlemingly stupid guess of Bush at #3...but nearly none of his picks make sense-- Detroit a RB? OK, Kevin Jones underachieved, but... Buffalo a QB? I guess Losman is already a bust after 5 games... KC a TE? That guy they have now is sort of overrated I suppose. Pittsburgh a DT? Hey...we like Texas DTs in Pittsburgh, give us another!! |
Quote:
I see him as more of a third receiver than a second. He certainly has value as a return man and has paid off in gadget plays. |
