Postage Rate Increase

How the heck did I miss this? Or did they do a good job of keeping it quiet?

Aren't they selling 2 cent stamps just for reasons like this?

ISiddiqui 01-04-2006 10:08 AM

It was all over the news in late November, early December.

The only time I ever buy postage is at christmas.

Apparently CNN.com and WRAL.com (my local TV website) both skipped it, as I check both every day.

Hm... I had heard about it but I don't remember where. I even found some old 2c stamps I had from the past :)

I knew about it. In fact, I just looked up last night the date the increase takes place (Jan 8) so that I could make sure I had the right postage on the bills I mailed this morning.

They never said anything about it on Comedy Central or TNT either.

Joe 01-04-2006 09:58 PM

I've heard about this a lot

st.cronin 01-04-2006 10:03 PM

I have to be honest.

I haven't known the postage rate since stamps were a quarter.

Craptacular 01-04-2006 10:49 PM

I hate the stamps that have no value printed on them. You find some laying around in a drawer somewhere and have no clue what extra postage you're gonna need.

Rizon 01-04-2006 10:51 PM

How do the postage machine readers in the stations know how much a stamp is? Is there some kind of coded patern on them?

Rizon 01-04-2006 10:52 PM

I was shredding some really old, useless papers at work and I ran across an envelope from 1979 that had a stamp on it. 15 cents.
