Black Cherry Vanilla Coke

Not a fan

Dutch 01-08-2006 01:07 PM

I always wished Canada Dry would bring back Wild Cherry. That shit rocked.

Also, they need to start adding some flavors to Coke Zero now. I drink that most of the time.

I drink Canada Dry Wild Cherry all the time (unless they stopped making it within the last month or so).

Dutch 01-08-2006 02:08 PM

I don't think I've had a Canada Dry Wild Cherry in 20 years! Maybe they don't sell it in the shady grocery stores that I go too.

sabotai 01-08-2006 02:12 PM

Probably not. I've only seen it in 2 liter bottles at the supermarket.

Grammaticus 01-08-2006 03:09 PM

I think it tastes pretty good. Pretty much seems like a cola option for the cherry vanilla dr. pepper. I'm guessing the dr. pepper version must be doing well.

QuikSand 01-08-2006 03:14 PM

I think it could use a twist of lime, maybe a touch of honey, and should be sweetened with stevia. And it should be French vanilla.

Why "French" vanilla, because it surrenders to your taste buds?

And then Pepsi would come out with it's own version two weeks later:

Black Cherry French Vanilla Lime Honey Stevia Diet Crystal Pepsi One

oliegirl 01-08-2006 04:01 PM

Honey? That just sounds disgusting... I am a huge fan of the "flavored" soda - with Diet Pepsi with Lime being my favorite, I love Diet Coke with Lime also, but for some reason the Pepsi version tastes "limier" if that is a word. I want to taste the Black Cherry Vanilla flavor, but haven't found it in the stores yet.

gottimd 01-08-2006 04:04 PM

This was just announced on the local TV news, pepsi just released their new Black Cherry French Vanilla Lime Honey Stevia Diet Crystal Pepsi One.

All it needs a touch of Old Bay seasoning and Wasabi and we got ourselves a great new drink. Coke will probably come out with that soon.

I wonder how many people here actually know what Old Bay is.

sterlingice 01-09-2006 12:33 AM

I haven't seen this yet. I'm curious as they're basically copying Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper and that stuff tastes good.

Dr Pepper (more specifically Diet Dr Pepper) seems to have a "going flat really fast" issue. I think it's the best tasting diet soda, but it's fucking flat by the time I'm halfway through it.

Have you tried turning the vibrator off when you're drinking your soda?

:D

I couldn't disagree more. That combination just doesn't go well together to me. I usually like the odd combinations, like Pitch Black Mountain Dew, but that's one I can't get behind. I may try it again to see if it was just a bad day or something...

We have our own local brands of seafood and meat seasonings down here, but we eat so much seafood and everyone likes variety enough that Old Bay gets around even down south. I used some the other day when I made my own crabcakes.

scooper 01-09-2006 10:20 AM

Back on topic, I think the black cherry vanilla tastes just like normal vanilla coke.

Old Bay on popcorn is good too.

Yeah, I really don't get much cherry...but I hate vanilla coke so it could be im focusing on the taste I dislike.

sterlingice 02-02-2006 10:41 PM

As of tonight, I can officially endorse the making of black cherry vanilla coke floats. Then again, I like a lot of floats, with I think my personal favorite being A&W Creme Soda float, tho that's a bit sweet for most people.

IBC root beer
IBC creme soda
IBC black cherry

All yummy for the tummy.

Like IBC but, I love Stewart's Black Cherry, Creme, Key Lime and Orange.

I still think soda tastes best when in a glass bottle.

digamma 02-03-2006 03:57 AM

I love it. I don't drink soft drinks, but if I'm in a convenience store and I see this (two fairly big ifs), I'll get one.

^--- Gets it.

Jones Green Apple Soda has quickly become my crack... I've succeeded in eliminating all of my soda intake except for that stuff and Stewart's flavours.

thealmighty 02-03-2006 08:28 AM

Is Stewart's a local brand or is it nationwide?

Ksyrup 02-03-2006 08:36 AM

I haven't tried this one yet, but I was disappointed to read that Coke discontinued the regular and diet Vanilla. I thought the diet was much better than the regular Vanilla, because the vanilla flavor comes through much better without the sweetness of the original Coke masking the flavor. But to not have either, and if this "new" dark cherry vanilla isn't as good, I'm not going to be happy.

Kodos 02-03-2006 08:55 AM

I want Cherry Coke Zero.

Ksyrup 02-03-2006 09:10 AM

Yeah, flavored Coke Zero is where they need to go next. I'd be interested to see how well Coke Zero is selling. For all we know, it might be doing poorly. I don't recall seeing any commercial for it in a long time.

It better be selling well, the stuff is a godsend. If I hear its selling poorly I might go out and buy a couple years worth of supply.

Wolfpack 02-03-2006 09:44 AM

I dunno. I never really cared for the vanilla flavoring in either the Vanilla Coke or this new Black Cherry Vanilla Coke. Seemed way too overpowering to me. I've had cokes where they added vanilla after the fact (say at Johnny Rocket's or Steak 'n Shake) and those go over much better.

I still much prefer just plain Cherry Coke anyway....

Ditto... I can't go back to regular Diet Coke. Even Diet Coke with Lime pales in comparison.

Passacaglia 02-03-2006 09:58 AM

Just had a few bottles of Black Cherry Vanilla Coke -- I like the Dr. Pepper variety better.

When's Coke Blak coming out?

ISiddiqui 02-03-2006 09:59 AM

Sometime in '06, but France is getting it first.

See, I like that the vanilla is overpowering. If it wasn't, then I'd just rather have plain Coke.

MizzouRah 02-03-2006 11:17 AM

Cherry Coke is #2 for me, right behind Dr. Pepper.

Like some, the vanilla is over powering, imo.

Very Addictive.

I believe National... Was part of snapple but, now is part of Schweppes and moved from Denver to N.Y..

stevew 04-08-2006 08:08 PM

Tried that relatively new Berries and Cream Dr. Pepper. Pretty darn good.

yup - no sugar, still great taste. I love that stuff.

Schmidty 04-08-2006 09:18 PM

I was so thirsty today, I drank Canada Dry.

Chubby 04-08-2006 10:07 PM

Fuck that cherry shit...

BRING BACK CRYSTAL PEPSI!!!

Franklinnoble 04-08-2006 11:12 PM

I agree... Black Cherry Vanilla Coke is teh suck.

Comes out Tuesday in the States (4/11). I'm surprised the love Coke Zero is getting here. I love it, but it is getting herder and harder to find. I wish I could get it at the fountain, because I absolutely can't stand Diet now and I can't drink real Coke anymore because of diabetes.

bob 04-09-2006 07:37 AM

I saw Blak in a grocery store this weekend in ATL - a four pack of small bottles (smaller than the ones you normally see at gas stations) for almost $6.

I saw coke Zero at the fountain somewhere the other day. I think it was a target. If you have a local 7/11 you might be able to talk the manager into ordering it for their fountain. Worth a shot anyways.
