The 2006 Golden Scribe Awards are Here!

Welcome back my friends, to the show that never ends. Im glad you could attend, step inside, step inside.

Thats right folks, its time to select the brightest and best members of our community. I have spoke with Grid Iron, and he has passed the torch this year to me. This year we will be doing things differently then what we did last year. The community will once again decide the winners, instead of a snooty panel of elitists.

This year we will have some different categories, and the inclusion of a few non-dynasty categories. We will also need some volunteers to present the awards.

Here are this years categories.

Best Football Dynasty
Best Baseball Dynasty
Best Soccer Dynasty
Best Basketball Dynasty
Best other sports Dynasty
Best non-sport Dynasty
Best Interactive Dynasty
Best Real-life Dynasty

Dynasty of the year
Rookie Writer of the year

Poster of the year
Thread of the year

Lifetime Achievment award
FOFC Dynasty hall of fame

Now, let me explain some of the new categories. "Rookie writer of the year" obviously goes to someone who wrote their first dynasty in 2k5. The "Poster of the year" award will go to the person that people that brought the most to this community in 2k5. The "Thread of the year' award, will be given to the poster who created the most entertaining thread this year. The "Lifetime Achievement award" will be chosen by previous GSA winners. This award does not have to go to a dynasty writer, but just to someone who we feel has brought the most to this board over the years.

The first round will be open for anyone to nominate someone in any of the categories above. You can nominate a maximum of 2 people for each category. However, you cannot nominate someone twice for the same category. You can nomiate in as many categories as you wish. The "LAA" will be done in the same manner, except only previous winners will decide this.

After the first round concludes, the top 5 nominated dynasties will be selected from each category. Voting will most likely be done through a secret poll hosted off-site. Once the results are tallied, and verified, the award show will being.

In order to nominate someone, please send an e-mail to

Airhogg at yahoo dot com
You must include your Username here. Anyone that does not include their name, will not have their nominations count. Your username must have been created sometime in 2005.

Nominations will be accepted until Sunday the 22th of Jan.

Natalie Portman would just like everybody to know she will not be attending this year's ceremonies. Something about alien drool not coming out of a dress.

Kodos 01-11-2006 12:29 AM

That wasn't drool, my friend! ;)

Good luck with the Golden Scribes this year, Airhog! :)

Izulde 01-11-2006 01:14 AM

I'm really excited about this year's Golden Scribes, because I'm hoping I have a chance. :)

Question: In the past, past winners were excluded from nominations, is that still appliciable?

Also, like I did for the previous awards, I'll make a case for splitting up the football category into pro football and college football. It's the Front Office Football forum, with FOF and TCY arguably still the core of this board. To me it doesn't make sense to merge those and yet have different categories for soccer and baseball.

Neon_Chaos 01-11-2006 02:57 AM

How about "Werewolf Thread of the Year"?

:)

With a dynasty of the year award, this doesn't sound fair to me. More recently active threads will clearly have an advantage and take away votes from other potential winners. With this set up, I'm afraid all nominees will be recently active threads.

Not to mention that it will be hard enough to find four candidates to some categories, I think...

I have never participated in the GSA's before, but doesn't this kind of limit the people who can nominate?

How so, everybody is free to nominate, no? My point is that it's an xxx of the year thing, not an xxx of autumn 200x thing. If the final nominees are already based on more votes = making the sohrt cut, then what's the purpose of additional voting? People will already pick their #1 choice, while some well deserving underdogs don't even get a look.

In previous years it was 5, so I bumped the limit up one. If people really want me to split College and Pro football I will, but are there really enough pro and college dynasties to make this work?

Also, I read through previous years, and found no mention of past winners being ineligable. Only the Persons who won the Quiksand lifetime achievement award are unable to win that one again.

Just to clarify the rules then, if you have a dynasty that has won in a previous year, and the dynasty is still running, that dynasty is not eligable. A new dynasties would be eligible.

And on a final note, if several people do want me to add another category, let me know. However, this is a today only type deal. Obviously I cannot be adding categories every day since it would screw the nominations phase up.

Well, if 8 threads got 2-3 votes then I probably would expand it out. It really just depends on how much interest is shown, and how many people vote

Breeze 01-11-2006 07:32 AM

Hey Airhog,

You should probably put a thread on the Dynasty board that links to this one.

Kodos 01-11-2006 08:56 AM

I think Godzilla Blitz excluded his X-Com dynasty from further nominations a year or two ago, and I did the same with my Bill Gates Challenge dynasty. But neither one of those were active last year, so they are out anyway. I believe they were both voted into the Dynasty Hall of Fame and thus became ineligible for any future awards.

Here are links to previous editions of the Golden Scribe Awards:

The First Annual Golden Scribes Award Show

The Second Annual Golden Scribe Award Show

The Third Annual Golden Scribe Awards Show

One additional category you might want to add would be to vote another dynasty into the FOFC Dynasty Hall of Fame.

MIJB#19 01-11-2006 09:53 AM

Airhog, thanks for clearing a couple of things to me.

My bad, I quoted the wrong thing...it was early in the morning.

This is what had me confused:

easily it was the one in which FOFC debated the truth to the rumor that werewolves can't drive. that was some ground breaking stuff.

The username created in 2k5 was to stop any sneaky people from creating false usernames to stuff the ballot box. I really don't think anyone would stoop that low, and I doubt any member that have been here a week are going to vote

This phenomenon was one of the reason I decided to let other folks take over the awards. ;)

Airhog 01-12-2006 04:25 PM

Oh well, I guess if no-one votes, then I will just randomly pick people to win ;)

MIJB#19 01-12-2006 04:46 PM

I'll take some time to give nominees, but I'll first need a trip to memory lane to look back on all the dynasties I read in 2005. :D

Izulde 01-12-2006 05:36 PM

I'll submit one for each category tomorrow

Airhog 01-16-2006 08:36 PM

Bump, the deadline is drawing closer folks. Get those votes in!

Airhog 01-16-2006 09:06 PM

Just FYI, but If you would rather PM me the lists, that will be fine. Especially if your too lazy to send me an e-mail. If the box is full, you will need to send an e-mail, but considering the low turnout thus far, I dont think thats a problem.

Kodos 01-17-2006 09:22 AM

Let's show the dynasty writers some love. Get those votes in! :)

MIJB#19 01-17-2006 09:55 AM

It ain't the 22nd yet. I'm only 1/3rd done doing my research about what Dynasties I liked in 2005. Aside from mine of course!

Airhog 01-19-2006 07:00 AM

Just a few more days left, to get those votes in folks. :D

fantastic flying froggies 01-19-2006 02:49 PM

And bmup

PilotMan 01-20-2006 08:06 PM

sent and bumped

Airhog 01-21-2006 08:57 AM

Im surprised that Golden Scribe Guy hasn't put in an appearance. He's probably lost in paradise again, and had his passport stolen by 2 women, well at least he thought they were women.

Oh and this weekend is the final weekend for nominations. So get those nominations in

Airhog 01-22-2006 12:34 PM

I will be accepting nominations up to 8pm CST tonight. Then I plan on running them through a highly complex algorythm to determine the winner. :D

MIJB#19 01-22-2006 07:04 PM

Email sent a few seconds ago!

Izulde 01-22-2006 07:11 PM

can it be extended to 10 pm CST? I got a pizza coming in 10 minutes :D

Airhog 01-22-2006 07:19 PM

your such a procrastinator

Airhog 01-22-2006 08:12 PM

yes it is past the deadline, but If anyone has something to submit do it now, I will be posting the nominations soon

Breeze 02-06-2006 06:22 AM

What's the status of the nominees? Has this been posted and I missed it?

Airhog 02-06-2006 06:46 AM

There was a seperate thread for the nominees. Voting is done, and the show is set to begin tonight

PilotMan 02-07-2006 01:22 PM

and?

Kodos 02-07-2006 01:39 PM

The Golden Scribes always feature delays. It's a requirement. :)

Not that I can't get enough of the dancing ladies, and for some reason the singles are flying out of my wallet, but now I have to pee and this seat is starting to hurt!

Airhog 02-07-2006 04:35 PM

Okay, I will try to get the going tonight, no promises though. I still have some crack, and my complimentry hooker still has 15 minutes
